RE "garage-band material" and blah blah - 1) this is one of the most ignorant and absurd music comments on TheTopTens I've ever read. So every garage-band employs full symphonic orchestras, complex progressive compositions and complex overlapping vocal harmonies?
2) Hansi is not pitchy at all - neither more nor "less pitchy".

He has great voice. Hansi is german. but his English accent is great.I still don't know how german musicians are so good at english accent

Dio sold over 47 million albums throughout his career. He died from stomach cancer in 2010 at the age of 67.

His "Until it Sleeps" is also very emotional, especially a live performance I watched. The song is about his mother dying of cancer with no medical help, so this explains why.

Fade to Black is about someone(James) wanting to leave this earth. When write an album like KEA this is a daring move to make on your second album

8 Matt Barlow Matthew 'Matt' Barlow is an American heavy metal singer and police officer. He was the lead singer for Iced Earth in the 1990s and 2000s. He is currently the lead singer for Ashes of Ares. After the September 11 terrorist attacks Matt Barlow decided to become a police officer and contribute to the "real world" instead of living the illusion of a "rock star." In 2007 he returned to music.

I love this guy - so much emotion and power.
Iced Earth - Melancholy, Dracula, A Question of Heaven

9 Sharon Den Adel Sharon den Adel, Dutch singer and the vocalist of symphonic rock band Within Temptation. Together with her partner, Robert Westerholt, den Adel is one of the founding members of Within Temptation. She has defined their work as epic and cinematic. Her vocals play a major role in the band's sound, despite having never received formal vocal training. Den Adel sings in the mezzo-soprano range but her vocal quality is light and lyric despite her range.

Tarja may be the best singer, but it is Sharon whose voice can deliver EVERY emotion. Listen to "Mother Earth" - sheer grace. Then listen to "Caged" - she sounds so desperate. And then listen to "Shot in the Dark" - sounds like a woman who has been scarred by life, and despite being waiting for her dearest, has grown to be tough by all the struggles.
The lyrics to those songs are very vague. They don't really tell all the story, it's her voice that does.

@Martin_Canine: I agree with you - probably Tarja has better vocal skills but to me Sharon sounds more vulnerable and this moves. And thanks for the correct understanding of the list idea - it's not about the best singers / singers with the best vocal skills (there are many other lists about that). This list has a different focus.
