Top 10 European Metal Songs Used in Video Games or Movies

The Top Ten
1 Sacred Worlds - Blind Guardian

One of my most favorite Blind Guardian songs was written for the video game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.
Singer and lyricist Hansi Kursch said that the band had no problems with making a song for a video game because the two guitarists Andre and Marcus are even bigger gamers than him. "There were no hesitations and discussions", Hansi added.
It's good when band members share similar interests.
When they made this song in 2010, the band members were in their 40s. Stay forever young, bards!

Blind Guardian isn't the band that needs to be on top all the time.

2 Fast As a Shark - Accept
3 Call from the Grave - Bathory

It was featured in the 2009 game Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned

4 The Mob Rules - Black Sabbath

It was used in the movie Heavy Metal (1981). And it was the only song by a metal band in a movie titled Heavy Metal, LOL.

5 Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath
6 One Shot at Glory - Judas Priest

It was used in an epic fight scene in Brutal Legend. Since this is an epic sounding song, it fit the scene well.

7 Skalds and Shadows - Blind Guardian

It was the main theme of the 2007 film In The Name Of The King (aka In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale).
The movie wasn't successful but the song is pure bliss.

8 2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden

Used in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

9 Everybody Up - Saxon
10 Wish I Had an Angel - Nightwish

Uwe Boll... it's a pity he did not get the recognition he deserves simply because he also made these uninspired video game adaptations. Has anybody seen "Attack on Darfur" or "Bailout" (aka "Assault on Wall Street")? This is what he should be judged on, as this is where he put his heart into. He only made movies like "Alone in the Dark", which were more likely to attract a wide audience, to be able to finance his serious movies, which were considered too touchy for major studios due to their subjects.

It was featured in Alone in the Dark (2005).

The Contenders
11 Electric Eye - Judas Priest

Used in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

12 Battlefield - Blind Guardian

It was featured in the heavy metal edition of the Adult Swim game, Robot Unicorn Attack.
"Battlefield" is based on Song of Hildebrandt, an old German tale about a father and son who fight to death in a duel.

13 Sword of the Witcher - Vader
14 Fire in the Rain - Agent Orange

It was used in the film River's Edge (1986)

15 Our Truth - Lacuna Coil

It was featured in Underworld: Evolution

16 Children of the Smith - Blind Guardian
