Best Examples of Eminem's Wordplay

Eminem is one of the best rappers of all time, hands down. In his career, he has spat forth plenty of clever lyrics and amazing wordplay. I'm not going to spoil anything, just try to decipher his code.

The Top Ten

1 "Illuminate the room and humans soon become aluminum, rhythmically in sync, if you'll excuse the pun" (Lose Yourself [Demo Version])

This bit of wordplay is his best. No other lyric can match it. Now or ever. - SwagFlicks

I was being hyperbolic then, I know there's better lyrics, I'm just saying that this one is really good. - SwagFlicks

If this is "his best," don't care to hear his worst.

2 "You heard of Hell well I was sent from it, I went to it serving a sentence for murderin' instruments. Now I'm trying to repent from it. But when I hear the beat I'm tempted to make another attempt at it. I'm Infinite" (Infinite)

There's a reason why I love this song so much. This is that reason. - SwagFlicks

3 "But for me to rap like a computer must be in my genes, I got a laptop in my back pocket" (Rap God)

Rap God is overrated, I must admit. However, Em's wordplay is literally untouchable throughout the entire song. This line is easier to decipher than others, but it's so good. - SwagFlicks

4 "He's married to the game, like a f*** you for Christmas, his gift is a curse, forget the Earth, he's got the urge to pull his d*** from the dirt, and f*** the whole universe" (Not Afraid)

Even if Not Afraid is pop-ish, it's still an incredible and inspiring song. This is the line that cemented it as one of his best examples of wordplay. - SwagFlicks

5 "White America, little Eric looks just like this. White America, Erica loves my s***" (White America)

It's tricky at first, but it'll come to you. And it hits hard. - SwagFlicks

6 "You witnessing a massacre, like you watching a church gathering take place looking boy" (Rap God)

This line is good, and it makes perfect sense. - SwagFlicks

7 “You make a wack song (wax on), and can't hold a candle But even Daniel-san wax off (wacks off), you jack-offs” (Caterpillar)

Has a stab at mumble rappers and genius word play! Love it

This has got to be my favourite word play. Double entendres and a karate kid reference!

8 I must be possessed like an evil spell, i'm E-V-I-L (The Ringer)

This one was clever

9 "Hi kids! Do you like violence? (Yeah yeah yeah!) Wanna see me stick nine inch nails, through each one of my eyelids? (Uh-huh!)" (My Name Is)

Ha ha I can't help but laugh (or at least smile) every time I listen to this song and that opening verse comes up. - UltimateHybridX

This line basically introduced Em to the world, and oh my lord is it clever. - SwagFlicks

"Clever? " Uh, no. Now chimpanzees... THEY'RE clever.

10 "I'm Nicer than Pete, but I'm on a Serch (search) to crush a miilkbone (milk bone), I'm Everlast-ing, I melt Vanilla Ice like silicone" (Just Don"t Give a F*ck)

The Contenders

11 "You hear it a lot, lyrics that shock, is it a miracle, or am I just a product of pop fizzing up?" (Till I Collapse)

This... this is just gold served to us on a silver platter. - SwagFlicks

12 "Rappers are having a rough time period, here's a Maxipad" (Rap God)

Almost any line from Rap God can go on here, but this particular one just has me dying of laughter. - SwagFlicks

13 "Only Hall of Fame I'll be inducted in is the alcohol of fame" (Rap God)

The only reason this line is lower is because the one similar to it makes perfect sense in context. - SwagFlicks

14 "But not the index or pinky or the ring or the thumb, it's the one you put up when you don't give a f**k" (The Way I Am)
15 “Here you wanna snack? You hungry you f***ing brat? Look at that, it’s a Xanax, take it and take a nap...” (My Mom)

Lit wordplay

16 “Now you get to watch her leave out the window guess that’s why they call it window pane” (Love The Way You Lie)
17 "Oink oink oink, you f--king pigs, all you're good for is doink doink DOINK!" (So Much Better)
