2 King Crimson King Crimson were a British progressive rock band that was formed in 1969. While the band has had numerous lineup changes, the head of the band has always been Robert Fripp (guitar). However, the most notable lineup is between 1972-75, consisting of Fripp, John Wetton (bass/vocals), Bill Bruford (drums), and David Cross (strings/keyboard). The band is most well-known for their debut album "In the Court of The Crimson King", with which they made a large impact on the progressive rock genre.
3 Ween Ween is an American experimental rock band formed in 1984, in New Hope, PA. It's members are Dean and Gene Ween.
4 Radiohead Radiohead are an English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, formed in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Colin Greenwoood (bass guitar), Phil Selway (drums), and Ed O'Brien (guitar).

6 Mr. Bungle Mr. Bungle was an American experimental rock band from Northern California. Known for a highly eclectic style, the band often cycled through several musical genres within the course of a single song, including heavy metal, avant-garde jazz, ska, disco as well as funk.

Should be #1.they combine so many different genres.they are music for musicians.they play about almost any music genre you can think of.they are so experimental that they play many different genres in an individual song.Mike Patton is an amazing vocalist.Him and the rest of Mr Bungle experiment with many different genres of music.They put Frank Zappa to shame.

I mean, listen to their first album and you gotta understand this was 1967. This kind of grungy stuff was pretty much shunned when it was first released.

Finally a list where Primus is in the top 50! They're amazing and by far one of the best examples of experimental rock.

The Beatles were vey creative, but never were experimental rock.
