Top 10 Extinct Animals You Would Most Like to See Resurrected

The Top Ten
1 Woolly Mammoth

If we humans are responsible for their extinction, then it should be our responsibility to fix or restore things by bringing them back from extinction and to help them connect with the modern world(like the plan of using them to stop global warming).

Wolly mammoths could be coming back because scientists have found 10'000 year old blood from the icy carcass of a a female mammoth in Siberia. this could be used to clone the mammoths and bring them back to life.

This animal may not actually be extinct sighting+video+fresh mammoth foot. Plus. They could live in Siberia.

I really want to see them again, they're my favorite extinct animal

2 Dodo

This animal would be loved to be back. After the rats are gone from Mauritius.

Small, friendly and cute! Who wouldn't want their own pet dodo?

Great idea! We will bring back the ones we have killed.

3 Moa

I'd like to see a relatively peaceful ostrich roaming New Zealand. They look like cool big birbs.

Poor moa. All 7 species went extinct... bringing haast's eagle with it

4 Baiji River Dolphin

Extinct by 2004 there was a sighting in 2010

5 Tasmanian Tiger Officially known as the Thylacine, this carnivorous marsupial was native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea before it was declared extinct in the 20th century. Resembling a large dog with some feline traits, it was known for its distinctive stripes across its back and tail.

As cool as it would be to have dinosaurs and mammoths back, I think that we need something less dangerous. The Tasmanian tiger, or as I like to call it, the thylacine, should certainly come back. The story of it's extinction is kind of a bummer. Plus, there's even the possibility that they're still around. Either way, I sure hope that the day of September 7, 1936 wasn't the last we've seen of the thylacine.

There the most interesting looking mammals they look very uniuqe maybe one day some one will travel in time to bring on back

It be cool to have these blood thirsty beasts around, I kinda like em

I wish I was borin in the 1900s so I could see one of these babies in person. They're just so cute.

6 Tyrannosaurus Rex Tyrannosaurus, meaning "tyrant lizard", from the Ancient Greek tyrannos, "tyrant", and sauros, "lizard" is a genus of coelurosaurian theropod dinosaur. It also had a tremendous bite force, the strongest of any Dinosaur and living terrestrial animal. Its bite force reached up to 12,800 pounds (roughly 5805 Kilograms).

Yeah no. I would like smaller carnivorous dinosaurs back from extinction (with the largest carnivorous non-avian dinosaur being the Utahraptor and Dakotaraptor, so no larger carnivorous non-avian dinosaurs like T-Rex as they need a lot more meat than our modern carnivores and could kill off our native megafauna, so not a good idea).

It's one of my favorite extinct animals but I don't think this would be a good idea

It say what do you want to see. Not the logistics of it.

7 Saber-toothed Cat

A great candidate since it helped regulate prey populations of North America, and people could develop defenses in case these cats were hunting people or their pets/livestock.

I love these guys and they're my second favorite extinct animal (mammoth as first) but this wouldn't be a good idea... Especially because they live in North America and I don't want to be mauled by one

8 Blunt-Snouted Dolphin
9 Megalodon The megalodon is an extinct species of shark which was about 59 feet (18 meters) long and hunted in the seas until about 1.5 million years ago. It was similar to today's great white shark-but three times longer and 20 times heavier.

Megalodon had more than 250 huge, razor-sharp teeth and its mouth was so huge that it could easily swallow a person. The fossils of its teeth were once thought... read more

The shark that could destroy whaling boats with ease, with bulletproof skin, the mega shark the size of a sperm whale that could destroy a pack of (overrated) orcas. As from The Guardian, since people complain about humans wrecking the ocean, why not level the playing field with an 80 ton, shark that could swim faster than a speed boat

Why do you wanna see this animal resurrected? I mean yes it's cool looking but this prehistoric species of shark can eat you up whole. it is the biggest shark to have ever lived besides the whale shark.

I would rather not have this animal alive today. Yes this animal is extinct not still alive today, stop using those overused and asinine claims that people still believe it to be alive.

10 Allosaurus Allosaurus is a genus of large theropod dinosaur that lived 155 to 150 million years ago during the late Jurassic period.

Bad idea. Do you want to be chopped up by this animal's toothy jaw?

The Contenders
11 Passenger Pigeon

On September 1, 2014, it will be the 100th anniversary of the passenger pigeon's extinction. A century of empty skies.

Just wait 5 years, and this species will hopefully be back again!

12 Anchisaurus
13 Irish Elk

I have never seen anything more elegant in my life. This is honestly one of the most majestic creatures to ever roam this planet. I can only pray that the decision to resurrect this beauty is made as soon as possible. It would be one of the easier ones to do and the thought of seeing a living one in my lifetime excites me greatly. Imagine seeing a giant deer with antlers over 12 feet wide and stands up at seven feet just at the shoulder. Truly a magnificent creature!

This was the largest deer to walk the earth until mankind hunted it to extinction. That was one huge deer with a one huge rack. Impressive!

Beautiful creatures

14 Brachiosaurus Brachiosaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Jurassic, about 154–153 million years ago.

These non-avian dinosaurs would make good zoo animals if they are/were brought back from extinction.

Edit: The image is wrong. That's a generic sauropod image.

If these dinosaurs came back, giraffes would finally have something to look up to.

One can only imagine the site of this majestic creature in the flesh.

15 Haast's Eagle

Best and largest eagle in comparison ever!

16 Argentinosaurus Argentinosaurus is a genus of titanosaur sauropod dinosaur first discovered by Guillermo Heredia in Argentina. The generic name refers to the country in which it was discovered.
17 Triceratops Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that first appeared during the late Maastrichtian stage of the late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago in what is now North America.

I think Triceratops should be resurrected back from extinction and would make a good candidate for domestication for meat and eggs, probably also for mounts (since they're large herbivores). Imagine seeing a farm full of Triceratops? :D

Who cares about traffic, a Triceratops wouldn't. Stuck on the road with your Triceratops? Just charge through and laugh.

18 Aucasaurus
19 Great Auk

Another dodo comment...

20 Pliosaurus (Predator X)

Some say Pliosaurus is rumored to still be alive. remember the loch ness monster?

Loch Ness Monster is believed to be a Plesiosaur

21 Bachman's Warbler
22 Japanese Wolf
23 Cetotherium
24 Bahamian Barn Owl
25 Auroch
