1 Tasmanian Tiger Officially known as the Thylacine, this carnivorous marsupial was native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea before it was declared extinct in the 20th century. Resembling a large dog with some feline traits, it was known for its distinctive stripes across its back and tail.

2 Dodo Bird The dodo bird is an extinct flightless bird that was native to the island of Mauritius, which is east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. The birds were first seen by Portuguese sailors about 1507 and were killed by humans and their introduced animals, leading to their exinction in 1681.

This gave the phrase "Dead as a dodo"
