Keanu Reeves is a Canadian actor, director, producer and musician, born September 2, 1964.
He holds Canadian citizenship and identifies as such although he's entitled to British citizenship through his English mother and holds an American green card.
Dogstar was founded by Reeves and another actor (Robert Mailhouse, drums). Dogstar released 2 albums and an EP, played live worldwide, even opened for Bon Jovi and David Bowie. They performed at the 1999 Glastonbury Festival, UK. Weezer and Rancid were Dogstar's opening acts. In fact, Weezer's first gig was opening for Dogstar!
Dogstar also appeared in two movies: Ellie Parker and Me and Will.
Dogstar's last performance was in 2002 in Japan, and the group folded afterwards.
Reeves left the band because of his working schedule. But he and his bandmate Mailhouse later performed together in band Becky. Besides, Keanu still jams with Mailhouse and Bret in Mailhouse's basement studio.
Reeves was only born there but his parents aren't Lebanese. His mother was working in Beirut when she met his father.
His father abandoned them when Reeves was 3 years old but Reeves knew him until he was 6. They last met when Reeves was 13.
Reeves said, "My grandmother is Chinese and Hawaiian so I was around Chinese art, furniture, and cuisine when I was growing up."
