Top 10 Failed Food and Drinks

Wow, wow, wow! What happened here? Lay's wanted to make their chips healthier, because, well, just about every brand I know tries to do that. Enter WOW chips, a new brand of chips that was released in 1998 with it being fat free and only having half the calories of a normal bag. There was a cost though. This was because it was made of olestra instead of cooking oil. That meant that they would digest less calories and would have stomach cramps and diarrhea. It would be rebranded to Light, but it still wasn't really successful with anyone.

Hostess has made quite some weird flavors for the sweet treat Twinkies over the past few years. This one might be their weirdest. This was a crossover between the popular movie franchise Ghostbusters. The biggest reason why it may have failed was just something off to the people who saw the food. This was because the cream was colored in lime green and many people didn't really enjoy the look. I have a feeling that some people were happy that this only limited edition.

Ketchup is already a famous and well liked food, so why did Heinz have to change it? In the early 2000s, the mentioned Heinz made a new version of ketchup called EZ Squirt Ketchup for a limited time. This means that people (mainly kids) could squeeze different kinds of colors of ketchup onto their food. But it just kind of made the food less appetizing for some people, most adults. Sure, it was still ketchup, but many people still didn't like its appearance.

Let's start out with the fact that this drink is actually called cocaine. Quite insane. Anyways, this drink was promising high amounts of energy when you drink it. Well, in a crazy turn of events, the marketing was so problematic that it was banned by the FDA. The name would later be rebranded with the new title No Name but would then go back to being cocaine. It also wasn't really doing well either, since it was actually kind of dangerous to drink, with doctors warning that you should avoid it drastically.

All I have is one question. Did anyone even ask for this? I mean, coffee is already extremely easy to make, so why did we need this? If you want to make coffee even easier, this is for you. Maxwell Coffee is basically just some coffee powder where you pour it into water and finally, reheat in the microwave. It didn't really have a justifiable reason to exist, and in the end, really didn't get to anyone's taste buds in superior delivery.

I've mentioned this in a previous list before so I'll try to keep things short. In case you didn't know, Vio is a flavored carbonated milk beverage. Yes, this actually exists. It was introduced in 2009 and nearly everyone deemed it a failure and it would be quickly pulled from production. Even though the drink was common in the country of Japan, Americans were still not satisfied and it was discontinued very quickly.

Let's be honest. Hubba Bubba has made quite some weird products in their time, but this one might be the weirdest of them all. The Bubble Jug was a container of gum powder that would turn into gum when it was chewed. What makes this kind of unsettling is the fact that it comes to the point that you are eating sugar that it pretty much becomes a homogeneous chewy substance.

So apparently, the people who made Pepsi decided to try to revolutionize morning drinks one time. To cash in on this trend, Pepsi AM was released in 1989, but it wasn't quite so revolutionary. It was basically the same old Pepsi but with a very high amount of Caffeine. It was not very successful at all, and it would end up being discontinued just one year later.

Have you ever had a drink of something and a solid object hits you right in the lips and you get alarmed very quickly because, you know, choking hazard? Well, this is just for you. Orbitz was advertised as a texturally enhanced alternative beverage, it was first released in 1997, and was discontinued shortly after. I guess the world didn't want to find small balls in their drinks.

I imagine it to be like an aloe drink or a basil seed drink or jelly boba.

This caused even more people to choke on a drink.

Anyone remember this, because I don't. Most of the chocolate companies out there usually offer a variety of ways to add into chocolate bars, such as crispy rice, carmel, and peanuts. But these guys literally put cheese and onion crisps into a chocolate bar. Even if you did enjoy cheese and onion crisps alone, I'm pretty sure many people were turned off from this.
