Top Ten Fantasy Books of All Time

The Top Ten
1 The Fellowship of the Ring - J. R. R. Tolkien The Fellowship of the Ring - J. R. R. Tolkien Product Image

The Lord Of The Rings is a masterpiece; rarely do I use that term. As others have said, this wasn't the first high fantasy book ever written, but it's impact on popular culture was such that it's often regarded as such. Few books have left a lasting impression on me; the story, the characters and the underlying sadness - it's simply one of the greatest stories ever written in my opinion.

This book didn't start the whole fantasy genre. Don't be mislead. There were other books, stories and authors before. Its not the first and its not the best. Jackson-Movies marketing-propaganda made them first and best, what is of course not truth

This book started the whole fantasy genre. It is the top in plot crafting, and the use of language is beautiful. A great book!

No, this needs to be higher than The Hunger Games. I love The Hunger Games Books, but they can't beat The Lord of the Rings

2 The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien Product Image

Although the Lord of the Rings is my Favourite Book of all time, I voted for the Hobbit for the memories it gave me as a child (and nostalgia upon multiple re-reads! ). Simply, no book has ever matched the feeling of adventure in this (mostly) light hearted standalone masterpiece. This book is timeless.

This should be #2

This book is my favorite I can read it over and over again it gave me so much memories and the movies are the best

It is the best

Nice set of books, but way too childish and predictable to be on the same scale of some of the real greats
