Favorite Bible Verses

The Top Ten
1 John 3:16 - "For God so Loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that who ever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life."

The bible leaving out how many verses people believe there are, different depending on each version. The most accepted answer is 31,240 verses. So, this verse is the entire Bible leaving out 31,239 verses.

Of course this was going to be no. 1. I'm surprised though it only has 16% of the votes. I was expecting at least 40%.

I have repeated this to myself before.

The Christian faith in a nutshell.

2 Philippians 4:16 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Trust in The Lord

3 1 John 4:8 - "Whoever does not Love does not know God, because God is Love."

Where is God? Its literally impossible for Jesus to be God in human. I notice your username is artlover so why didn't the Bible ever have art in it.

It means in today's world no one knows God.

4 1 John 4:10 - "This is Love: not that we Loved God, but that he Loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
5 Mathew 5:44 - "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you and spitefully use you."
6 Ephesians 4:32 - "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ has also forgiven you."
7 John 13:34 - "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have Loved you, so you must Love one another."
8 John 15:18 - "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first."
9 Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates his own Love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Interpretation: while God gave us love and sin, Christ died because of God so that God could get rid of sin, that he created.

10 John 10:10 - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
The Contenders
11 Psalm 23:1 - "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."
12 Revelation 22:21 - "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen."

My favorite verse, and the closing of the Bible. Revelation 22:21 says it all. It sums up the 31,240 verses. It is essentially God's secondary message. (Primary being John 3:16.)

13 Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I love this one and have always loved it. It makes me feel like I have meaning in life.

One of my favorites.

14 Luke 23:43 - "Today you will be with me in paradise."
15 1 Timothy 2:12 - "I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; She is to keep silent."

Yea, if someone repeated this today, everyone would lose it.

16 Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Story of my life

17 Revelation 13:18 - "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
18 Psalm 27:1 - "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

I love this verse. I always turn to this when I'm afraid and it always works. I think God planned this verse to give comfort to people like me who get scared a lot.

19 Joshua 1:9 - "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
20 Revelation 19:11 - "Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war."
21 Revelation 3:20 - "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends."
22 Revelation 16:16 - And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

The ONLY place in the Bible that mentions Armageddon.

23 Revelation 21:4 - "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
24 1 Corinthians 13:8 - "Love never fails."
25 1 Peter 4:6 - "For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit."

I hate it when people pass around the myth that Christians think that non-Christians will go to Hell. This verse proves otherwise.
