I added him last because, although he is an amazing writer and wrote the best thriller, Misery, he has a tendency to come away from the plot, preferring to concentrate on sub-plots and backstory, which weakens the tension (for me anyway).
When I read Gerald's Game, I gave up a chapter before the ending. I just didn't care enough to find out what happened.
