261 Brandy Brandy

She is one of the most talented R&B singers that I know...she should be at least in the top 50. She was one of the few young ladies in the early 90's whose sound changed R&B forever.

Brandy is incomparable. Her harmonies and vocal improvisation skills are second to none. The one thing you'll notice when you read the liner notes on her CDs is she very rarely uses background singers. She simply doesn't need them because her ability to harmonize. She is one of the most underrated if not the most underrated female singer in the past 25 years.

Brandy should come in second place after whitney houston.
Her voice is exceptional and gosh she surely does know how to use it. Plus she has excellent ears for music and meaninful music. She is a good role model, at least she doesn't go about flaunting her butt.

263 Patti Smith Patti Smith Patricia Lee "Patti" Smith is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist who became a highly influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses.
264 Fantasia Barrino

Fantasia is definitely one of the top 25 female "sangers" of all time. She has one of the most powerful voices that we have heard in a long time. When she did the salute to Patti Labelle live; that just separated her from the rest of the pack right then and there. She just can flat out sang...

the world no nothing about singing if fantasia is not announce one of greatest singers

Sings from the heart, and that which comes from the heart reaches the heart!

266 Mireille Mathieu

Unique, magic voice, very melodious songs, many international hits sound better in her version

Brilliant, though sometimes harsh voice, especially for French natives' ears. Too many stupid songs and covers.

Beautiful voice, skilled singer

Underrated big star of Francophone music

267 Lita Ford Lita Ford Lita Rossana Ford is an English-born American rock guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, who was the lead guitarist for The Runaways in the late 1970s, an all-female rock band formed by Joan Jett and Sandy West. In the 1980s Lita Ford embarked on a solo career.

Come on! Lita Ford has got to be higher than this! A lot higher! She is a rock singer! A great one! And she is ranked #396 behind a bunch of pop singers that sound like dying cats! It's an outrage! - Shake_n_Bake13

Are you kidding me? This far down. Lita Ford, along with Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, pioneered the all girl rock bands. They did it before the GoGos, The Bangles, and others. The Runaways were an awesome band. So Lita Ford and Joan Jett should be in the top 10.

I have a hard time choosing my favorite female singer, but I think Lita Ford takes the cake. #370?! You've got to be kidding.

268 Emily Osment Emily Osment

272 Sandy Denny Sandy Denny Alexandra Elene MacLean Denny, later known as Sandy Denny, was an English singer-songwriter who was lead singer for the folk rock band Fairport Convention.

I suppose the singer that you choose can only come from the genres of music that you like and that you are old enough or experimental enough to have come across. Most of the above are recent, sexy popular singers. On that basis a folk-rock-ballad singer who died so terribly young in 1978 won't get many votes. Funny, because I grew up thinking that everyone knew that Sandy Denny had one of the most respected voices in music. She guested with Led Zep on "Battle of Ever More", which is excellent but I should try searching for "She moves through the fair" or "Milk and Honey' on youtube for Sandy at her best.

Sandy was one of the very best, #736 is an insult but I guess that today it is only people of a certain age who knew of her work. Up to us oldies to spread the word

Sorry folks, but this voice, expression and meaning is of course Number One of this whole (wrong and strange) list...

Sadly missed

274 Swarnalatha
275 Dalida Dalida

THE BEST French SINGER OF ALL TIME SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THIS PLACE

276 Sonja Kristina Linwood
277 Elissa Elissa

One of the bests

278 Vera Lynn

My dad says she was the best singer of all time. She lifted the soldiers spirits during WWII. He is disgusted with any list that would have her at 329...and especially any list that would have Madonna so far up the list. And from my viewpoint, whoever put this list together must have never heard "I am Blessed" by Rachael Lampa.

279 Cat Power

Listen to "Wish I Was Here". She blows away at least 85% of this list in that song alone. - gamedemon24
