A fabulous Christine from Phantom. Since is isn't primarily a recording artist, she is unknown to the masses. May be the best female vocalist on Broadway - and Picadilly, at present.

486 Lesley Gore

No. 1 song of 1963, It's My Party; followed up by Judy's Turn To Cry; She's A Fool; You Don't Own Me; That's The Way Boys Are; I Don't Wanna Be A Loser; Hey Now; Look of Love; Maybe I Know; All of My Life; Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows; My Town, My Guy and Me; Young Love; I Won't Love You Anymore (Sorry); We Know We're In Love; California Nights; Treat Me Like A Lady; Off and Running; Magic Colors; Small Talk; Wedding Bell Blues; Immortality; Sometimes. Great songs! Great artist!

Lesley should be in the top ten to say the least! She had a string of 19 chart singles in her early days at Mercury Records. Produced by Quincy Jones, she had a numer of chart hits, successful selling albums. She landed a number 2 feminist song on the charts in 1964, YOU DON'T OWN ME. It was kept out of the number one spot by the Beatles! Instead of devoting herself fulltime to her career, she decided (wisely) to enter Sarah Lawrence College at the height of her career. She still performed and recorded, but only on weekends and during breaks from school. Today, 2013, she is still out there performing to sell out crowds. Her highly acclaimed album, EVER SINCE, which was recorded in 2005, gained her a lot of recognition as an artist and as a person. BETTER ANGELS was used in an episode of CSI: NY. Lesley should not be forgotten!

She was revolutionary in her day. Not only was she exceptionally talented, but she was the very first "girl power" artist, spouting lyrics affirming the strength and independence of women. Truly Exceptional.

Needs to be way higher

Declaim is a up and coming group for the U.S. Market. Charlotte voice is so smooth.
It is strong enough in concert it can actually be heard all the way in the back row.

488 Courtney Love Courtney Love

Courtney is such an empowering, strong woman who's raw voice and powerful lyrics make for a moving, and at times emotional, listening experience. - mallgothica

Courtney may be a trainwreck but her voice is powerful and full of emotion, her songs also speak great truths.

495 Kirsten Flagstad

The most powerful operatic voice in history - LateBloom

496 Susanna Hoffs

How is this possible? If you can't have in mind songs like "Manic Monday", "Waiting for You" or "My side of the bed" when you are looking for the greatest voice, you still have a lot to learn about music.

Front Woman for the greatest female band ever, The Bangles

497 Jennifer Holliday

One of the best singers of all times. Very under rated and it is a shame that her success did not last. The emotions that come through when she sings is very unique.

She is the only singer with emotion! Plus, her voice booms outs on pitch, in tune, and sounds loud and amazingly perfect!
