Top Ten Fiction Books of All Time

The top ten fiction books you should definitely read. This list is of my choice, hope it does not hurt someones emotions.
The Top Ten
1 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - J.K. Rowling

All the action the emotion the deaths the backstories the emotion the quest the sacrifices the emotion the growth of the characters the resolution did I mention emotion? All the moments like Kreacher's Tale, Dumbledore's backstory, Godric's Hollow, Ron's return to save Harry, Dobby's death, breaking into Gringotts, The Battle at Hogwarts, Fred's death(Why?! ), Snape's memories, Harry's sacrifice, Voldemort's defeat thanks to Draco Malfoy of all things and Harry ending it by listening to his friends and going "Cool story bro. Kreacher-go make me a sandwhich." What an ending.

Such a great ending to the best series in the world... And then Cursed Child came along and ruined it! Cursed Child is the only Harry Potter book with flaws and destroys everything we knew about Harry Potter! It was so unnecessary and I don't even count it as a part of the series and it is lame that it is canon!

Best book series of all time!

So the best series

2 The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien

The best book you will ever read. Written by the best author, even the movies are good. This book will rule the list and the hearts of people for years to come.

Nope. There is no way Harry Potter is better than Lord of the Rings. HP is appealing to a wider audience, but Tolkien's LotR is just the most perfect book ever.

Without ANY exaggerating the best book written. Nothing comes close to this. Period.

Absolutely brilliant, much better than Harry Potter in too many ways to count.

3 The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien

I'm not even joking- this is the best book I've ever read. And I'm pissed off that the movies weren't as good as the book, but even if they were, you'd see even more that this book is amazing. There is no word to describe it fully. I even cried at the end, every single time I read it. The only other flawless book besides the Bible. J.R.R. Tolkien is a pure genius, and the fact that a human mind can even think of something as influential and as beautiful as this story is mind-boggling. I am a writer, and this book inspired the fantasy story that I am writing currently.

If you haven't read this you absolutely have to! I remember when my dad first gave me the book to read. At first I was skeptical because it looked old and kind of boring. But I started reading it and now it's my ALL TIME FAVORITE! Besides The Bible. You have got to try it!

Tolkien is the best author ever. This book alongside The Lord of the Rings will blow your mind. It is family friendly, so by all means read it to your kids!

Hey, all of you hp fans. read this book and see how much you're missing. I read this three times and I also read lotr two times. don't just see the hobbit movie that movie is the most inaccurate movie ever. even the movie's main villain never even appears in the books. READ THE BOOK.

4 The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Are you kidding! It's not on the list? Nor is Harry Potter?!? Craziness. Fantastic, mesmerizing, appealing to youth (who need to read! ) These books must win!

Basically take Battle Royale, sci-fi it up, and make it suitable for teens! What you get is a novel that does the japenese classic justice!

More out of this world than the repetitive garbage from Agatha Christie.

5 The Bible - Various

I'm sorry, but there are many Christians out there (including me) who can prove that the Holy Bible is true. Archaeological and scientific evidence can prove that the events that happened as recorded in the Bible actually are true, and a lot of the prophecies about the end times from the Bible have come to pass this day and age. The last few generations couldn't believe that the WHOLE WORLD will be watching two witnesses of God in the end times (which is what it says in the book of Revelation), but now it's more possible for people to believe that it could actually happen. And, even if it were fictional, in a library, you'd most likely find it in the non-fiction section because it was written not for fictional uses, but to spread the truth. Good luck finding the Holy Bible in the fiction section of a library. What should that mean? That even librarians, whether Christian or not, would be able to tell us if the Bible is fictional, so if you don't want to believe anything I said, at ...more

The fact of the matter is nobody-not me, or anybody else-knows if it is real or not. My opinion is that it isn't because I'm agnostic, but that doesn't mean it is definitely fake. A Satanist, Christian, Atheist, or an Agnostic like me cannot say for certain if The Bible is true. End of story. That being said, the person who put this on the list is clearly trying to make Christians upset, because, as I'm sure you could guess I would say, he doesn't know the truth either.
But I would also like to emphasize the fact that yes, you Christians can't say it is real just like an Atheist can't say it isn't. We can all have opinions, but to say one opinion is better than the other is downright idiotic, I'm sorry, and I'd like to think that we as a human race have come further than that.

I knew this would be on the list, but it should not be here. The Bible is filled with the actual history of the Jewish and Christian world since the beginning of civilization. This has already been proven in archaeological findings from both Jewish/Christian and non Jewish/Christian sources.

It's not fiction. Even if you're not a Christian, it's seriously insulting to hint at the fact that it's not real. Maybe it isn't, maybe it is, but don't insult the Christian religion. How would you feel if we insulted you because you're a Jew, or because you're an atheist? Exactly.

6 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - J.K. Rowling

I have read this book 15 times! Love it!

I've read all the Harry Potters at LEAST 100000000000000000 times, but this one is probably my favourite! Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely in love with Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games and Divergent so they would all have had votes if I had more than one, but since I have been with Harry from day 1, it would be betrayal not to vote for this! POTTERHEAD FOR LIFE!

7 The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan

Reasons to love Percy Jackson:
1. It's funny.
2. Annabeth doesn't need powers to be able to defeat Percy.
3. Grover grows tougher through the book - character development.
4. The idea is great.
5. No such thing as a "bored reader", if someone likes fantasy books!

One of the best, if not the best fiction book that was ever written.

The entire series is an absolute masterpiece

8 Divergent - Veronica Roth
9 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J. K. Rowling

How is the hobbit above here? He hobbit had no meaning to it at all. I felt nothing for the characters and always skipped pages. It was an okay book but this book was outstanding! I felt for Harry, like I wanted to cry and just give him a hug and then there were moments were I wanted to laugh and have a happy dance.

God there is Hunger Games Again! Harry Potter has better everything! Storyline, characters, emotion, creativity, hardship! Everything! Put Harry Potter Where Hobbit is! Hunger Games and Hobbit under And Then They Were None! I'm sick of Hunger Games let Harry rise over Katniss!

The book that started it all! This book is amazing and began a multi million dollar franchise that captivated and fascinated millions and made reading cool again (for kids).

Wow... did somebody really call Agatha Christie "repetitive garbage? " What are you, 10? Oh wait, of course you are - you like the Hunger Games.

10 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - J.K. Rowling

My favorite book

Best book ever.

The Contenders
11 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K.Rowling
12 Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
13 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

Good choice. I'll always vote for this one, the characters are legendary and the lessons to be learned invaluable.

An original! One of the best books of its time!

14 The Heroes of Olympus, the Mark of Athena - Rick Riordon

Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

15 The Warrior Cat Series - Erin Hunter

The best part about this series is that it could've ended up being a trainwreck for having the amount of books it has. But it didn't. You see, when the ThunderClan plots were getting boring, the Erins knew this and ended it. The series is still running, but they changed things up a bit. I'm pretty sure some of the fans were getting bored of ThunderClan, and so was I. I actually stopped reading this series for awhile because of this. However, they turned this around with "Dawn of the Clans." Dawn of the Clans is a series of books that didn't focus on ThunderClan, and was long overdue. I'm not saying that it took a long time to come out, but they needed to make a series that didn't focus on ThunderClan much earlier. Anyway, I know before Dawn of the Clans came out they had books that didn't focus on ThunderClan. I'm just saying there weren't too many. ThunderClan took up the majority of the series, and stayed beyond its welcome.

As for the series, some of the earlier books are ...more

One of my favourite ever books! I can't believe that it's all the way down here!

I love this series!

Yes warriors

16 Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins
17 The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

Deserves 1st place. Its impact on history is undeniable. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are simply fantasy, with storylines and meanings conjured by whimsical thoughts. The Da Vinci Code provides the reader with REAL history along with facts that form endless debates in the classroom, boardroom or living room.

I really am offended. I mean...9th? Really read this book. Dan Brown has created a masterpiece by writing this book. Fast Paced, Thrilling, and hard to put down. A must read to all you Fiction Fans

This Is It! This is the best fiction novel EVER... I repeat, EVER! Simply cannot get better than this!

While I do love Agatha Christie books, I believe a Dan Brown book deserves a higher spot.

18 Journey to the Center of the Earth - Jules Verne

This book is so good though...

19 And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie

I remember reading this in my eighth grade reading class. This book is filled with suspense, which will keep you guessing till the very end. This book is very well written and should be read by everyone!

Its excellent from every aspect. Its shrouded in a convoluted curtain of mystery till the very end. A curtain in which on every step there is blind speculation. Christie's best work.

The greatest mystery book ever, its good to see it in the top five. Agatha Christie's the best author even Death on the Nile should be on the list.

Perhaps the greatest author of all time. Good to see that there are two of her books in the top ten...and after all these years!

20 The Outsiders - S. E. Hinton
21 Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Jeff Kinney

How can you list Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, and then Diary of a Wimpy Kid! That book sucks!
One day, I dream of a world where kids are smarter and would challenge themselves more with books. We all have comfort zones. Some of us just like to expand them.

God why is this even on this list? It is so terrible!

Why does everyone hate on this book?

22 2001 A Space Odyssey - Arthur C. Clarke

I just voted for this to bring The Hunger Games. After that book I was hungry for something good to read.

23 The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice

If I have to pick just one of the series. Best to read Interview with the Vampire, Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Theif, Memnoch the Devil.
Lestat's such a compelling character.

24 The Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie
25 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
