Fictional Characters Ruined by Memes

The Top Ten
1 Shrek Shrek is a fictional ogre and titular character of the Shrek franchise. He debuted in the 2001 animated movie of the same name. He is voiced by Mike Myers.

I'm definitely skipping the remake because of this reason. Also, it was very unnecessary to make the Shrek remake, like Disney did with Toy Story 4.

I remember seeing the 4th film in theatres... Now it's ruined by the Cory fanbase, which was bad enough.

It's also pretty sad to know that he's literally more famous than Mike Myers these days.

2 Knuckles the Echidna Knuckles the Echidna is a fictional character in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a red anthropomorphic echidna who is determined and serious, but sometimes gullible. He has the ability to glide and climb up walls, and is a powerful fighter due to his spiked hands.

Knuckles is badass and it's a damn shame Ugandan Knuckles exist. Don't know the point either ( Sanic is a different story)

3 SpongeBob SquarePants SpongeBob SquarePants is a fictional character and the titular character and protagonist of the American animated television series of the same name.

I get sick to death of hearing this show get mentioned and referenced all the time.

SpongeBob SquarePants is not the best cartoon ever because it's just a meme tool on the entire internet: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more.

The memes didn't ruin him, they just overloaded him.

4 Mr. Krabs Eugene H. Krabs, or simply Mr. Krabs, is a fictional character in the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants.

People are used to blaming pay-to-win games and poor companies, but they are not toxic.

His greedy personality ruined him.

Are you feeling it now, Mr. Krabs?

5 Robbie Rotten Robbie Rotten (played by Stefán Karl Stefánsson) is a lazy man who continuously formulates feckless schemes in which he masquerades in a disguise to lure the residents away from their newly-active lifestyles. He passionately abhors the influence of Stephanie and Sportacus on the townspeople. A number... read more

7 Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog, trademarked Sonic The Hedgehog, is the title character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series released by SEGA, as well as numerous spin-off comics, five animated shows, and an animated OVA.

The character and the entire franchise is seen as a joke nowadays. Doesn't help that two of the most despised video games ever made (according to Wikipedia) come from this franchise. Also, the trailer for his upcoming movie pretty much confirms my point.

Crossover shippers ruined Sonic more than anything else.

Ever since 2006, He hasn't been taken seriously.

8 Toadette Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Kart: Double Dash.
9 Willy Wonka Willy Wonka is a fictional character appearing in British author Roald Dahl's 1964 children's novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and its 1972 sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. He is the eccentric owner of the Wonka Chocolate Factory.
10 Bowser Bowser is the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. Franchise. From kidnapping Princess Peach to simply destroying a fun game between Mario and Friends in the Mario Party spinoff series, this king of the Koopas has set up a certain hatred towards himself amongst the large cast of Mario Characters. He first... read more

15 Manny Heffley

Manny Heffley is just an icon. I have been reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid for so long. It holds a special place in my heart.

16 Hatsune Miku Hatsune Miku, sometimes referred to as Miku Hatsune, is a humanoid persona voiced by a singing synthesizer application developed by Crypton Future Media.

Ok ima just say something about her rq. She deserves her fame, she is extremely talented.
She was ruined by everyone using her than got hated for being more popular then Len, Luka, and Gumi.
Then got turned into a meme

Her popularity ruined her, I prefer Megpoid Gumi and Megurine Luka over her

17 Freddy Fazbear Freddy Fazbear (originally known as Freddybear, as seen in the Kickstarter) is one of four main antagonists of Five Nights at Freddy's, who later appear as variations in the succeeding games.

Its games are decent, but most of its memes are cringe!
