It looks like a smiley face like that yellow Nirvana logo. My guess is that the smiley effect was unintentional. The irony is, this emirate existed for only 6 months. Nothing happy about it.

Nepal and Nepalese fought few wars with Muslims rulers from India and were not defeated. Later Nepalese fought wars with British India five times in a row but Nepali were not defeated whereas most of the Indian subcontinent was ruled by British.
