Top Ten Flaws With the Holy BibleLet me get this straight, I do believe in God, and I do consider the Bible to be mostly accurate. But there are some things in the Bible that I, and many others, do not agree with. What are some things that YOU do not agree with the are contained in the Bible? This list is not intended to offend anyone, this is just my personal opinion.
The act of homosexuality is a sin according to the bible, so that means that homosexuals aren't allowed to enjoy their sexuality? Do they need to be celibate their whole life instead and live in misery and jealousy from others? I guess that the punishment God gives to the ones who commit homosexual sodomy, and by the way heterosexuals LOVE the act of sodomy which is a sin in the bible, but no one cares.
If you don't see why it is wrong for a man to put his penis in another man's anus. An organ that tears easily and is easily infected with disease and harmful bacteria if not lubricated before the act unlike a vagina that naturally lubricates itself and is suited perfectly for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. The anus which is something that was designed to push out toxic waste from the body not take it in or anything else, Something is seriously wrong with you. You have either been brainwashed, deceived or ignorant or all of these things.
There is a reason why homosexuality is considered immoral and harmful in most religions and cultures. Of course Western cultures embrace it is is part of their history after all (Roman Empire is a GREAT example of that) but let me tell you anal sex reverses your chakras and puts you in a demonic plane. There are many negative spiritual medical and physical ramifications of homsexuality. Stop believing propaganda in the form of TV ...more
I believe that this is completely wrong. Literally everything is a sin. It is 100% impossible to be free of sin. The whole reason why everyone is afraid of homosexuality is because of some book. I really am sorry if this offends anyone, but this is a website for opinions and that's why I will say mine. It may be a sin, but we homosexuals are just tired of hearing it over and over again.
This is one I struggle with a lot. I am a Christian in bible college, but I had a secret boyfriend for a while. It was nothing about lust and I don't consider myself gay even, I just found that he was the only person that made me feel okay and I loved him for how much he cared for me. My church found out and I got suspended from being a youth leader until I broke up then they let me back, but it just hurts and o still don't understand why. In some way I do believe it's harder to be close to God while in a gay relationship because every time I spent time with my boyfriend I couldn't feel anything but emptiness when thinking about God and after we broke up it instantly came back. I just wish I knew why it is something God does not tolerate and why I couldn't be with the person I love and the only person who has ever really loved me.
The Bible never directly says that slavery is just, but there is a little bit of evidence in scripture which states that slavery is "ok."
"As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly."
(1 Timothy 6:1)
"All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves."
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ." (Peter 2:18:)
"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." ...more
Well, slavery was kinda normal in ancient times. It continued on until the 1800s basically. However, if slavery is allowed, then why did the Jews continue doing it if they were enslaved by the Egyptians?
This doesn't encourage slavery. It states the times. Plus, back then, most slaves wernt black, they were war slaves, which we still have common today.
This isn't even meaning that women are the inferior gender LOL. There are tons of women in the Bible that are heroes. Considered to most cultures during biblical times, the Bible gives women many more rights than were usual. Women are equal to men, there is no place in the Bible which says differently. Saying "wives, submit yourselves to your husbands" isn't saying, women, submit to men. This is saying, I believe, that Wives should give themselves to their husbands, depend on them and obey them. And husbands are supposed to submit themselves to the church. There's nothing wrong with this.
The bible, along with the Quran and a few other religious books, states that men are above women.
"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."
And then they wonder why I say that religious women are A) mentally retarded B) enjoying being told they are inferior. Why would any woman be a Christian? This makes no sense to me, you can't just ignore the fact that it's written
God created man for Himself "Let is make man in our image" and woman for man "it is not good for man to be alone".
Submission doesn't mean inferior.
Goodness! This I believe in the sense that it was written, was talking about when a man divorces his wife cause he lusts after another woman. And that, is in fact adultery. Please read the context the verse was written in before making a foolish statement on the internet
The bible states that if you get a divorce, you should not remarry, for if you do, you are committing adultery.
"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery."
Seeing as cameras didn't exist in Bible times, why oh why did no one do a small painting of Noahs ark. I have got history books of times before cameras with paintings of what they looked like.
Maybe gilgamesh was written about this flood? Maybe the Bible tells of how it happened and why, and gilgamesh included it, as it happened?
It's total bullocks and it's practically copied from the Epic of Gilgamesh but with names changed.
It's a childish story, no one older than 10 should believe it happened.
The bible states that you should not ever get a divorce... So if you partner is abusive and hateful, you are just supposed to put up with them for the rest of your life?
"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
Marriage is also supposed to be holy, not on a whim. If you truly love who you are marrying and have dated them enough and know them enough, you should have no problem keeping them
You don't disown your father because he is abusive. Why then should it be different in marriage. Your souls are bound together, signing a form doesn't change that
What in the cases of Infedilety? Or Domestic Abuse? Or the partner commits a heinous act?
No joke, this is actually a thing.
"If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity."
Philosophy is in no way "evil." It should be encouraged! I personally believe that it should be mandatory to take Philosophy in High School. It is more important that people give it credit for.
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ."
By the way what do philosophers have to say
"everything is nonsense" why do I need someone to tell me that?
How is this a flaw? You'll get a girl pregnant or STD if you do "it" out of marriage. But since this a "flaw", get AIDS and we won't remind you
Seriously... What idiot calls this a flaw? You'll get a girl pregnant or STD (both of you even) if this happens.
Imagine how many problems in this country would be solved if this was obeyed.
Lets bring back the word "Bastard" if a baby is born without marriage.
The bible states that it is easier for a camel to fit into the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. It does not say that if you are rich, you will burn in hell, so you should not become rich. But it is saying that you should not desire to be rich. I have to disagree with this. Wealth is very important. Sure there is a lot of greed in this world, but if you are a kind hearted individual, you should strive to become rich.
Sometimes you need wealth for food, shelter, supplies, etc.
However, not all millionaires are greedy. Some might donate lots to charity, like Bill Gates does.
Its wrong to be physically attracted to someone also, its called adultery. So we all get a ticket to Hell for that.
Desiring for extreme wealth has led many a rational human to fall. So this is actually wise in saying.
Actually, the bible constantly states that you should always give to the poor. But there is one instance in the bible where Judas wants to sell something and give the money to the poor. Jesus replies that "you will always have the poor, but you shall not always have me." Saying that, he used the stuff on himself. This one instance does not make any sense whatsoever. Why would you promote giving to the poor, but then say that you are far more important than the poor? It is true, but it is also selfish.
You must have read this part with your eyes in your mouth. Spit them out, put them back in your socket and go read the entire passage again
Always help those in need. But if the person is leeching off you. It is wrong
There is one instance in the bible where a huge battle takes place. The "good guys" win, and they begin to take prisoners. But God told a very wise man that there shall be no prisoners. So the man orders the prisoners to be executed. That does not sound evil at all...
How is anyone in a war Good?
This is total bullocks
Where is it written?
Let's walk around a desert for 40 years.
"My feet are in agony arrrgghh"
"This is boring"
I can't believe this idiot that obviously doesn't know what's best for humans thinks that we will all bend our knees to him.
You know illustrations in the Bible after the dead sea scrolls. It might have made the Bible a bit more believable?
