Top Ten Flaws With the Holy BibleAlpha101 Let me get this straight, I do believe in God, and I do consider the Bible to be mostly accurate. But there are some things in the Bible that I, and many others, do not agree with. What are some things that YOU do not agree with the are contained in the Bible? This list is not intended to offend anyone, this is just my personal opinion.
The Top Ten
The problem with this list is to say that you believe in God then say that God was wrong about these things you are saying you are better than God, also by saying these things are flawed you are potentially saying that the whole Bible is a flawed. This is the point when most Christians will go wait a minute this doesn't make since and stop believing. If you want to believe in the Bible you have to believe everything is true and just.
Honestly I was pretty sure when I saw this list that it was either another person that believed in another religion trying to convince Christians that they should believe some that is so flawed or an athiest trying to point out the ridiculousness of the Bible and why it isn't the word of a God - germshep24
Could you please get in with the times and stop saying God hates Gay people.
The bible states that this is a sin. I am not homosexual, but I do not see anything wrong with being homosexual.
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." - Alpha101
Let me get this straight: You think you can pick and choose what you want from the Bible, especially the Old Testament? Read the four Gospels; Jesus treated the Law n an inseparable whole. If you don't agree with the Bible, just say you're not a Christian and think the Bible's bullcrap. But don't speak out of both sides of your mouth. Also, if you can arbitrarily choose what you like out the Bible and say, "THAT part isn't true, but the parts I like are", do you think your preferences determine what is true in the Bible? If I would prefer to fly, can I do that?
The problem is that everyone picks and chooses what they like from the Bible since the Bible thinks that pretty much everything is a sin and if it isn't a sin the fact that you exist is a sin in itself - germshep24V 19 Comments
(1 Timothy 6:1)
"All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves."
“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.” (Peter 2:18:)
"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be ...more - ukp
I don't think the Bible should be taken literally. Come on Adam and Eve where parselmouths.
This doesn't encourage slavery. It states the times. Plus, back then, most slaves wernt black, they were war slaves, which we still have common today. - MovieFan007
The Bible never directly says that slavery is just, but there is a little bit of evidence in scripture which states that slavery is "ok."
"As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly." - Alpha101
This isn't even meaning that women are the inferior gender LOL. There are tons of women in the Bible that are heroes. Considered to most cultures during biblical times, the Bible gives women many more rights than were usual. Women are equal to men, there is no place in the Bible which says differently. Saying "wives, submit yourselves to your husbands" isn't saying, women, submit to men. This is saying, I believe, that Wives should give themselves to their husbands, depend on them and obey them. And husbands are supposed to submit themselves to the church. There's nothing wrong with this. - MovieFan007
The bible, along with the Quran and a few other religious books, states that men are above women.
"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." - Alpha101
Women are not property. They should not be treated like it either. They should not be forced into marriage or anything of the matter
And then they wonder why I say that religious women are A) mentally retarded B) enjoying being told they are inferior. Why would any woman be a Christian? This makes no sense to me, you can't just ignore the fact that it's writtenV 2 Comments
Goodness! This I believe in the sense that it was written, was talking about when a man divorces his wife cause he lusts after another woman. And that, is in fact adultery. Please read the context the verse was written in before making a foolish statement on the internet - MovieFan007
It makes no sense because your uncle did it? I understand, we all want to protect our loved ones - Chronocyborg
My uncle got remarried after a divorce this makes no sense. - Therandom
The bible states that if you get a divorce, you should not remarry, for if you do, you are committing adultery.
"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." - Alpha101
Marriage is also supposed to be holy, not on a whim. If you truly love who you are marrying and have dated them enough and know them enough, you should have no problem keeping them - MovieFan007
The bible states that you should not ever get a divorce... So if you partner is abusive and hateful, you are just supposed to put up with them for the rest of your life?
"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." - Alpha101
You don't disown your father because he is abusive. Why then should it be different in marriage. Your souls are bound together, signing a form doesn't change that - Chronocyborg
What in the cases of Infedilety? Or Domestic Abuse? Or the partner commits a heinous act?
What I've taken from the Bible is that you are allowed to divorce if your loved one is unfaithful. I believe that would include domestic abuse and such. - GrimmShadyV 1 Comment
No joke, this is actually a thing.
"If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity." - Alpha101
The military is clearly not for this
Be puting reference - Chronocyborg
Ok, WHEN IS A WOMAN GONNA GRAB TESTICLES IN A FIGHT? THAT IS HIGHLY IMPROBABLE. - ARandomPerson
Goodness. Alpha101, when are you going to stop putting verses without context. Philosophy isn't evil. believing man can think like God is what is evil. - MovieFan007
Philosophy is in no way "evil." It should be encouraged! I personally believe that it should be mandatory to take Philosophy in High School. It is more important that people give it credit for.
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." - Alpha101
THE BIBLE AT TIMES IS PHILOSOPHY. HYPOCRITICAL MUCH? No wonder when some say I am philosophical I am evil
By the way what do philosophers have to say
"everything is nonsense" why do I need someone to tell me that? - Chronocyborg
Actually, the bible constantly states that you should always give to the poor. But there is one instance in the bible where Judas wants to sell something and give the money to the poor. Jesus replies that "you will always have the poor, but you shall not always have me." Saying that, he used the stuff on himself. This one instance does not make any sense whatsoever. Why would you promote giving to the poor, but then say that you are far more important than the poor? It is true, but it is also selfish. - Alpha101
Jesus says in this passage that He will only be on planet earth a while longer. Give the money to the poor late. He doesn't say don't give money to the poor at all. - MovieFan007
You must have read this part with your eyes in your mouth. Spit them out, put them back in your socket and go read the entire passage again - Chronocyborg
Always help those in need. But if the person is leeching off you. It is wrong
Its wrong to be physically attracted to someone also, its called adultery. So we all get a ticket to Hell for that.
You shouldn't. how is this bad? - MovieFan007
Desiring for extreme wealth has led many a rational human to fall. So this is actually wise in saying. - MovieFan007
The bible states that it is easier for a camel to fit into the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. It does not say that if you are rich, you will burn in hell, so you should not become rich. But it is saying that you should not desire to be rich. I have to disagree with this. Wealth is very important. Sure there is a lot of greed in this world, but if you are a kind hearted individual, you should strive to become rich. - Alpha101V 2 Comments
Fun Fact #1: The story of Moses, is probably a lie. If Egypt had slaves and 2 million of them disappeared, their economy would be in ruins which clearly didn't happen. They were at their golden age at that time. Losing almost all of your laborers is catastrophic!
Fun Fact #2: The earth isn't 3,000 years old. And wasn't created in 7 days. Who would have thought?!
Fun Fact #3: It's really self contradictory. Oh look God loves everyone. But anyone who isn't Jewish in the old testament, well to bad. You weren't born one so to Hell you go! Oh look, Gods are all fake and are man-made devices. But the Jewish God isn't because reasons. Oh have you never heard of Christianity? Well NOT MY PROBLEM. It's a human's responsibility to spread the Gospel. It's not my fault that my creation didn't tell my other creations. Oh well. You are going to hell I guess.
Fun Fact #4: The concept of prayer is a loophole. Prayers work, unless it's part of Gods plan that it doesn't work. So ...more
Yep if you look at someone and find them attractive its adultery = hell.
Adam and Eve could speak parseltongue.
Adam was 930 years old when he died. No one on this planet can live to that age are creationists seriously thick as a brick.
Noah was around 600 years old when he built the Ark.
Noah: Ow! God! my back hurt and my legs and my arms picking up this wood.
God: GET BACK TO WORK!
Noah: But I'm 600 years old, give me a break.
God: You are the one who is going to take animals and your family.
Believing the Bible is real is no less ridiculous than believing Harry Potter is. It’s kind of cute until you’re past the age 10, but downright insane if you’re an adult.V 1 Comment
There is one instance in the bible where a huge battle takes place. The "good guys" win, and they begin to take prisoners. But God told a very wise man that there shall be no prisoners. So the man orders the prisoners to be executed. That does not sound evil at all... - Alpha101

Where is it written?
This is total bullocks
Maybe gilgamesh was written about this flood? Maybe the Bible tells of how it happened and why, and gilgamesh included it, as it happened? - MovieFan007
It's a childish story, no one older than 10 should believe it happened.
Seeing as cameras didn't exist in Bible times, why oh why did no one do a small painting of Noahs ark. I have got history books of times before cameras with paintings of what they looked like.
It's total bullocks and it's practically copied from the Epic of Gilgamesh but with names changed. - Bruno2202V 2 Comments
You know illustrations in the Bible after the dead sea scrolls. It might have made the Bible a bit more believable?
This is a legit thing. I am a christian atheist meaning I myself am not a christian, but my family is. Haven't told them yet. Not planning too. But as a person who is reading the bible, most of it is total crap. How is this even a sin?! I was looking up laws of the Old Testament in Bible class, the worst class ever. And this was just one of the laws.
This wasn't for everyone, only priests I believe. Maybe listen closer. - MovieFan007
