1 Venom Venom Venom are an English extreme metal band formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom's first two albums—Welcome to Hell and Black Metal—are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general.

Not much to say about Venom that I haven't said multiple times. They laid the groundwork for all forms of extreme Metal. They basically created Thrash and Black Metal and influenced Death Metal as well. - ryanrimmel

2 Hellhammer/Celtic Frost

Pretty much the same band, and they pioneered extreme music with Venom. Since they have the same members, I included them both as one item - ryanrimmel
