Inspired by the Angry Video Game Nerd's "Chronologically Confused by Sequel Titles" episode

The Top Ten

1 Final Destination
2 Star Wars Battlefront

There's now 2 Star Wars Battlefronts and 2 Star Wars Battlefront 2s. - PerfectImpulseX

3 Mega Man Mega Man Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is the title character and the protagonist of the Mega Man series by Capcom.
4 Gundam Gundam
5 Fast and Furious
6 Die Hard
7 The Legend of Zelda

I see. The Legend of Zelda does have a lot of games in the franchise. - ShigeruMiyamoto

8 Doom
9 Microsoft Windows

Windows 1.0
Windows 2.0
Windows 3.0
Windows 3.1
Windows for Workgroups 3.11
Windows NT 3.1
Windows NT 3.5
Windows NT 3.51
Windows 95
Windows NT 4.0
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows ME
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003
Windows Vista
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows Server 2012
Windows 8.1
Windows Server 2012 R2
Windows 10
Windows Server 2016
And yes, I know they skipped Windows 9 because some programs would confuse it for Windows 95 and 98 but it still doesn't make any sense (unless you somehow count Windows 8.1 as Windows 9).

10 Rocky

Firts there was Rocky followed by Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V then they name the sixth installment Rocky Balboa instead of calling it Rocky VI what the hell why do they feel the need to use Rocky's full name for the sixth movie then we have Creed being followed by Creed II. - egnomac

The Contenders

11 Kingdom Hearts

This awful series is confusing as heck.

This series makes Metal Gear look like Kirby. - PerfectImpulseX

A great, but overly complicated series...

This game has way too many spin off titles and not enough actual sequels, we got Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, KH Coded, KH Mobile, KH 358/2 Days, KH Birth By Sleep, KH 3D: Dream Drop Distance, KH HD 1.5 Remix, KH X, KH HD 2.5 Remix, KH HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue why do we need so many spinoffs and remakes just release Kingdom Hearts III already were tired of waiting a decade for the third sequel to come out. - egnomac

12 Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy II is actually Final Fantasy IV Final Fantasy III is actually Final Fantasy VI
Not to mention Final Fantasy XIII and it's unnecessary sequels. - cjWriter1997

13 Wolfenstein
14 Dancouga Dancouga

Dancouga - Super Beast Machine God (TV Series) (AKA. God Bless the Machine - Dancouga)
Dancouga: Requiem For Victims (OVA)
God Bless Dancouga (OVA)
Dancouga: Blazing Epilogue (OVA)
Dancouga BURN (Manga)
Dancouga Nova (TV Series) (which in turn is the spiritual successor to Gravion/Gravion Zwei) - PerfectImpulseX

15 Halloween

This isn't just confusing in terms of titles, but also in terms of chronology.

Halloween has three different timelines, all starting with the Halloween from 1978.

Full list (In terms of chronology):

Timeline 1

Halloween (1978)

Halloween II (1981)

Halloween IV

Halloween V

Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers

Timeline 2

Halloween (1978)

Halloween II (1981)

Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later

Halloween: Resurrection

Timeline 3

Halloween (1978)

Halloween (2018, it's not sure if they're going to change the title).

Halloween III (In name only, doesn't have anything to do with ANY of the the timelines).

Halloween (2007 remake).

Halloween II (2009, has nothing to do with the H2 from 1981).

And now, the Halloween franchise in order of release (remake counted):

Halloween (1978)

Halloween II (1981)

Halloween ...more - Kiyomi

16 Scooby-Doo Scooby-Doo
17 King of Fighters
18 The Brave Saga/Series The Brave Saga/Series

and I think there's a prequel novel and a sequel novel to GaoGaiGar FINAL but I can't remember their names. - PerfectImpulseX

19 Gal*Gun

Gal*Gun 2 is technically the 4th game in the series. - PerfectImpulseX
