There is no way you can't say Hagrid is straight-out righteous. He is always willing to help, and of course teach, and in addition to that he has a huge soft spot for those in need. He has always been right at Harry's side, also, please note, he very kindly gave Harry a birthday cake. Nobody else did THAT, huh?

If he wasn't the loyal, brave and loving friend he is, hermione would have been killed by the troll and harry would have been dead, ten times over.
