A fruit is the section of the plant that develops from a flower. It's also the part of the plant that contains the seeds.

The other parts of the plants are vegetables - stems, leaves, roots and the flower bud.
Vegetables include celery (stem), lettuce (leaves), cauliflower and broccoli (buds), beets, carrots and potatoes (roots).

I'm sorry, but this argument is asinine. A vegetable is any herbaceous plant whose fruit, flowers, leaves, stems, roots, tubers, bulbs, et cetera, are used as food. All fruits are therefore vegetables. - Crwth
