Every single episode is bloody hilarious, so making this list was difficult. But I had to do it at some point in time.This was everything that you would expect from Fawlty Towers. A recipe of sarcasm, awkwardness and racial humour makes this truly unforgettable in all comedy.
So agree with you this should be first. So so so funny. The fire bell scene is actually funmier than Basil with the Germans. I love this episode. Easily my favourite.

My favourite by far, though The Germans would be a close second. I just love the character Mrs Richards and how Basil tries to remind Polly of the name of the horse in front of his wife in amusing gestures within this episode. Why on earth is this episode at number Ten, it should be on top, or at least second.
This has the funniest clip with Basil and Manuel: "Crazy. She go crazy. Crazy. I say to her you try and see in girl's room and she go crazy. I tell her you go to see girl in room. You crazy about this girl, okay? Okay so. You try to go up to look at her, and Mrs Fawlty, she go crazy."
