Top 10 Funniest TV Characters of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Chandler Bing (Friends) Chandler Muriel Bing is a fictional character from the NBC sitcom Friends, portrayed by Matthew Perry.

Friends is a great show with so many great characters. Chandler Bing is one of them. Well written, well created, and extremely well acted. But just one thing: Why do none of his friends ever laugh at his jokes? If they don't think he's funny, why are they friends with him? Because after all, he's known as "the funny one". That's why he should be top of this list.

So funny but not offensive, unlike South Park. And also such a kind character, we all know that he's the one we all actually want as a friend.

Have you guys ever seen him? People voting for Homer Simpson? This guy is the funniest a character can be. Vote for the Chan Chan Man!

2 Eric Cartman (South Park) Eric Theodore Cartman, often referred to just by his surname, is a main character, as well as a major antagonist and occasional antihero in the animated television series South Park, created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and voiced by Parker. He is one of four central characters in South Park, along... read more

Those old enough know this is the funniest character of all time.

3 Homer Simpson (The Simpsons) Homer Jay Simpson is the main protagonist of the American animated television series The Simpsons as the patriarch of the eponymous family.

He's way funnier than Eric Cartman. It seems the people who didn't vote for Homer Simpson never watched a single Simpsons episode.

Homer is my God. I worship him every Sunday at 8. It's the way it is and has always been.

Homer is my hero! He is so dumb. Therefore, I like him so much.

4 Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother) Barnabus "Barney" Stinson is a fictional character portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris and created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas for the CBS television series How I Met Your Mother.

He truly is legend-wait for it-dary. The most popular character of How I Met Your Mother. Has the best collection of awesome quotes. Nails every bimbo with a new trick. Even knows some magic tricks. There is no doubt he can't match animated characters like Cartman and Homer, but he probably is the funniest when it comes to real-life characters.

He is "Awesome" and cannot be topped, even by Chandler Bing or Will Smith. One example of why he is number 1 is when he planned the Exploding Meatball!

He is simply awesome in every aspect. Love him. The word legendary totally suits him, and the way he says it is... well... awesome.

5 Michael Scott (The Office) Michael Gary Scott is a fictional character on NBC's The Office, portrayed by Steve Carell and based on David Brent from the original British version of the program.

Alright, what made The Office so good was the type of humor that no other sitcom dared to touch. This type of humor is offensive to certain groups, but it ultimately the funniest thing in any sitcom. At the center of these hilarious jokes is Michael J. Scott. His humor is the best. He makes the best jokes and although he seems like a jerk, I feel like he is the most genuine boss ever. I would give my left kidney to work under Michael, because he is so funny and he makes the workplace everything it actually needs to be. Michael Scott is the world's best boss.

6 Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) Sheldon Lee Cooper, Ph.D., Sc.D., is a fictional character in the CBS television series The Big Bang Theory, portrayed by actor Jim Parsons.

Sheldon Cooper, number 20? Bazinga! That is a joke and a half! He is super funny, and I can't wait for him and Amy Farrah Fowler to "hook up" in the future. His reaction is bound to be hilarious!

I think he's funnier than Kramer! And I'm a big-time Seinfeld fan. He made Milk Duds funnier than Junior Mints!

Funny and interesting character.

Weirdest, funniest, and the loveliest character of all time. Rainn Wilson did a great job playing Dwight.

8 Phoebe Buffay (Friends) Phoebe Buffay-Hannigan is a fictional character, portrayed by Lisa Kudrow, one of the six main characters from the American sitcom Friends.

Phoebe Buffay is unique! For someone with a childhood as troublesome as hers, Phoebe has grown up to be remarkably positive about life, quirkily intuitive, and extremely hilarious.

I love Lisa Kudrow's portrayal of the character and how Phoebe, in Friends, is unique, funny, and sometimes, a bit of cleverness comes in. She is my favorite character in all the TV shows I've watched!

I can't tell you how funny Phoebe really is. The truth is, she is an absolute idiot.

9 Peter Griffin (Family Guy) Peter Griffin is the main protagonist and titular character of the American animated sitcom Family Guy.

Oh, come on guys... Peter is the third funniest just after Chandler and Homer, just because they are classic. But even though I convince myself Chandler and Homer are funnier, deep down inside I know it is Griffin. He gives it to you straight. The show is even funnier.

Peter Griffin is my favorite character. He needs better storylines and depth to redeem himself as a person.

The Contenders
