Games that Should Be Revived, Re-Released, Remade, or Spiritually SucceededWindWakerFan Many games from generations past have been praised by gamers of all ages, but some of these games and franchises haven't seen a re-release or new entry in a while. These games are the ones we think should be revived, re-released, remade, or even get a spiritual successor for a new generation of gamers.
This list is intended to cover completed and released games and game franchises that have not been re-released or had a new entry in a while, so please do not add unreleased games to this list. The Video Games that Shouldn't Have Been Cancelled or Shut Down list is for that purpose.
The Top Ten
Nah! I feel super Mario sunshine needs it the most! Or super mario world!
Okay, this is cheating a bit because of Yooka-Laylee being a thing, but I heard through the grapevine that Yooka-Laylee wasn't as good as the games it was inspired by. Let's also hope that the next Banjo game (if it ever becomes a thing) won't be something like Nuts and Bolts, because I heard that game didn't please many fans of the series. - WindWakerFan
I only voted on this because I don't have any other way to comment on this. This game don't need a remake, and neither does most of the other games on this list. Now I can understand why people would think there should be a remake to Sonic 06 or Bubsy 3d, but remaking games that were horribly broken would really be rather dumb, especially when a game developer could make up for a farce with new, good games in that series. That's what Sonic Team did after making Sonic 06. Besides, Sonic 06 would of been average at best if it didn't have its horrible glitches.
No matter what one would say about the actual gameplay, the character creation was hilarious enough to basically warrant another Spore game - kempokid
Whare is my spore remake
I know this idea would be rather risky and unlikely because of the closure of Maxis Emeryville and knowing EA these days, but I'd like to see some sort of an official continuation of SPORE one day. Even if SPORE didn't live up to the hype it generated with its E3 trailers, it's still fun to tinker around with. Unfortunately, any official continuation will probably be saturated with microtransactions, lootboxes, and other fee-to-play schemes courtesy of EA.
On the plus side, however, there is an unofficial successor of sorts called Thrive. It's an open-source indie game that promises to do what SPORE wasn't able to, and it looks promising despite the slow progress on the game. - WindWakerFan
Thank God this is on here. this so needs to be remade with Grand Theft Auto 5 graphics and new music. Because its such a classic. - Cookiecutter26
Kotor 3 needs to come out
This game is SO underappreciated! Released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64, Chameleon Twist and its sequel puts you in the control of an anthropomorphic chameleon who's able to use his/her tongue to lick up enemies, get across gaps, and hop onto platforms. With platformers making a comeback in recent years, this would be an excellent opportunity to make a new entry in the Chameleon Twist series or remake the first two games. - WindWakerFan
Bot? - Alapisboy
My comment wasn't written by a bot, but, yeah, it's a little too promotional, looking at it now. - WindWakerFan
Show his siblings. He has a family.
My main man Gex needs more love. - DapperPickle
I've only known about this series from the Super Smash Bros. series, but I know that a lot of people are frustrated about the lack of a new entry for fourteen years straight at the time of writing this. - WindWakerFan
No game since the gamecube... WHY Nintendo why
The one I most agree with - Maddox121
You know, I got to say. I've always wondered why Nintendo hasn't given F-Zero a new game in a long time. If they could revive Kid Icarus and turn it into an incredible 3DS game, who's to say F-Zero wouldn't be a stellar racing game combined with 3D fighting combat on the Nintendo Switch? - ModernSpongeBobSucks
With the success of Jurassic World, Capcom should have noticed that and considered giving Dino Crisis a redo, considering this game's commercial and critical success during its time. And let's be real, its been 15 years since we last had a Dino Crisis game, one that had nothing to do with the previous entries.
Also, I think it really is time Dino Crisis deserved a new game, or at least a remake at this point, as Resident Evil 2 is having one. Also, Capcom has stated on Twitter that a new entry is possible, "if a lot of people wish". - CrimsonShark
GREAT games. - ShuhBanggg
This series hasn't got a new game since 2010. It's such a shame. I really liked the gameplay and the premise of a surgeon treating patients that were victims of bioterrorism in the future. The inclusion of a costume based on Derek Stiles in Etrian Odyssey II Untold: The Fafnir Knight gives me hope that ATLUS will return to this series soon. - WindWakerFan
Played the demo, Its cool - B1ueNew
A severly underrated handheld sonic game - B1ueNew
The game has a lot of potential underneath it's awfully buggy gameplay - kempokid
I know this game was a piece of rushed garbage, but I really can't help but feel bad for this game in a way. It was originally going to have 120 dragonflies, 25 levels, 60 FPS, Gnasty Gnorc and Ripto teaming up to steal the dragonflies, and quick loading times before Universal Interactive rushed it for Winter 2002. If this game ever gets remade, officially or not, everything that was promised should be put back in on top of scrubbing out the bugs, loading times, and other inconsistencies. - WindWakerFan
This game really needs to be remade, so we can experience Spyro 4 in its true original form.
Yes, it’s considered by many people, including me to be the worst Spyro game because of how badly it lags, but that’s part of why I wish they’d remake it. It could’ve been almost as great as the first 3 if it wasn’t rushed out because it has very similar gameplay, story and a somewhat similar design. - 3DG20
I know that Triforce Heroes exists, but I consider it to be pretty inferior compared to Four Swords Adventures. This game is the least successful Zelda game to date, having only sold about 0.94 million copies throughout its lifetime, and it's the only Zelda game to not get a rerelease. A proper remake, re-release, or any form of continuation of this game would most definitely help it get more sales, especially if the requirement for GameBoy Advances and link cables for multiplayer are replaced by online multiplayer. - WindWakerFan
WE NEED PURPLE LINK! - Maddox121
I really liked the idea of the Panel de Pon-style Puzzle Realm being used to defeat enemies, restore health, and even let you FIGHT IN A MECH SUIT. How is that not cool?! Here's hoping that EA won't ruin any sequels or remakes with microtransactions if it even happens. - WindWakerFan
I'll eat my shorts if we get a complete remake of the trilogy and it gets an American release. - VeryPissedOffCinnabon
It already has a sequel.
Need a sequel
They're making new games already. - Hotheart123
I haven't played this because I'm not really into horror games, but I think it'd be nice if Konami would develop a proper continuation of sorts to this game that doesn't involve pachinko machines or disrespects the source material like Metal Gear Survive did to the Metal Gear Solid series. - WindWakerFan
Umm Silent hill did get a continuation
Silent hill 2 is my favourite horror game ever made
I hate you Konami, canceling PT for us. - Not_A_Weeaboo
While I do like Kirby Squeak Squad personally, I have to say that while it introduced the fun ability bubble mix mechanic, in terms of gameplay and story, it's probably one of the weakest installments in the mainline Kirby franchise. Seeing as Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star got remakes (although the former's remake Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland had the same graphics as Kirby and the Amazing Mirror and Kirby Squeak Squad), it wouldn't hurt to see Kirby Squeak Squad get a 3D HD remake on either the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Switch while also trying to improve upon the game's weak points and building off of what made it fun at the end of the day. - ModernSpongeBobSucks
Give this game a second chance, buff the bosses, redesign some levels, and give it 3d graphics and BOOM! Squeak squad becomes one of the best Kirby games of all time. - VeryPissedOffCinnabon
I've never played the first Epic Mickey nor the Power of Illusion spin-off, but I've only played Epic Mickey 2 and only even got the copy since my sister wanted it so much. And honestly, I feel sorry for how this one of a kind Disney video game franchise never reached its full potential. The first game, while flawed with its poor camera angling and poor frame rates, did seem fun and had an innovative gameplay mechanic with using paint and thinner to paint or thin out obstacles, paths, and enemies respectively. And it did a good job at bringing back the forgotten Oswald the Lucky Rabbit character. Too bad The Power of Two failed to fix the poor camera angling and poor frame rates of the first game and didn't sell well enough. It's especially sad since I liked that they incorporated singing and full voice acting into The Power of Two. At the very least, now that Junction Point Studios is dead, I hope Disney may one day either do a remake of the first Epic Mickey or give us the much ...more - ModernSpongeBobSucks
I Miss Epic Mickey series
We went this series back!
EPIC MICKEY 3 please! - Maddox121
I haven't played much of the Jak and Daxter series, but I know many people would be ecstatic to see it be remade or continued. - WindWakerFan
Yeah, bring back the double dash mode - Maddox121
A: They do make new Mario Kart Games
B: They did bring in the feature of double items in MK8D
C: It would be brilliant for a new Double Dash game featuring all of the characters from the entire MK series, although R.O.B. was a weird pick for the DS.
Come on man give it to us
I LIKE ANAL
Absolutely adorable and hilarious, enough said
She also would fit in quite well with the No Doubt cult and could make for a quite interesting new take on Guitar Hero if enough effort was put into her next game (which I VERY sincerely doubt when talking about the creator of THESE games, but still) - xandermartin98
Sequel to Parrappa the Rapper. - IceFoxPlayz
Who care about them?
Yeah how about a LIL' NOPE. - CaptainMowzker
What? Why? The original was good, just get rid of the cancerous fan base and it’s even better. - IceFoxPlayz
Uhh, no? - TeamRocket747
I think Pikmin 3 can wait a few months...
The last Smash before Nintendo started kisses the backsides of third-party developers by not only including their characters but making them God tier and overshadow the first party characters.
The only way Ultimate CAN truly blow this game out of the water is for Nintendo to tell us they were just kidding about it being literally every playable character and Snake, Bayonetta, Cloud, Ryu, Bowser Jr, and Dark Pit AREN'T coming back after all.
ModernSpongeBobSucks: Yes, but Melee didn't have overrated third-party characters (Cloud, BAYONETTA, and SNAKE) that ironically attract Nintendo *haters*. Melee was as much Nintendo's love letter to itself, a digital museum as it were, as it was a fighting game.
I don't think we need melee to be remade. I don't hate the game but I think the game is largely overrated and I'm surprised brawl took such a turn because it didn't have a good competitive seen, (Like, come on. It's made for casuals even thought it had a T rating.) But most importantly ultimate is coming out soon and I hope it blows this game out of the water.V 2 Comments
Best f2p out there
Well, I’ve played TF2 millions of times... and It gets boring easiely. Since, it gets really repetitive once you’ve played for a year or more... Now TF3, TF3 would be an amazing addition to the gaming community as a whole. But if it’s a letdown that will be a problem for Valve, personally I would like to see better graphics and some buffs.
It's a shame that this game hasn't gotten the attention it deserves, as this is a game that combines survival horror and RPG elements perfectly. For a game that was ahead of it's time, a remake would suit it perfectly. - nerffan8000
It was a really brilliant game, but it was almost forgotten as soon as the next major game came out... I'd like to see it return. - Rocko
Can we get an HD remake or a sequel of this already? - Randomator
I can't believe how underrated this idea is.
Pokemon Snap was such a great idea, I never played it, but watched videos of it and thought it was adorable and creative. Now that we have SO MANY new Pokemon, they could try having levels with pokemon that go from Bulbasaur to Zeraora. Now, that, would be a great sequel.
He already was revived/ remade though. - CaptainMowzker
Uh I do believe this game was already re released
Like Kirby Squeak Squad, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror would definitely be a great candidate for a 3D high-definition Kirby remake. Especially since more recent games like Kirby Triple Deluxe and spin-off games like Team Kirby Clash Deluxe pay homage to Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, I'd love to see the Mirror World be revived in 3D graphics. Sure, Dark Meta Knight and maybe Shadow Kirby already have 3D sprites, but what about Dark Mind? How about even rendering Master Hand and Crazy Hand in the Kirby style of 3D graphics? Also, turning Boss Endurance into The True Arena and giving us Dark Mind Soul would be predictable but epic to see. - ModernSpongeBobSucks
Prince of Persia
One of the few post Naught Dog Crash games that were actually good - Maddox121
I haven't played this game, but after the reviews I've seen of this game, a remake would make complete sense. Now I don't judge a game by graphics, since I prefer Pac-Man, Frogger, and Donkey Kong Country over any xbox game. I judge a game for its legit pros and cons, and the reviews of this game showed that it had a lot of cons. Seeing very stupid glitches left and right in the reviews, I was amazed that they even released this game on the market. The glitches in Sonic 06 and Big Rigs weren't that bad. A remake of Bubsy 3d could be worth playing, if it was made correctly. A remake to this game would be one remake that would be truly better than the original. A remake to this would have more meaning than remakes of things that didn't need remakes(Crash Bandicoot).
We need to give it another chance.
Any Bubsy game will be bad. - IceFoxPlayz
First Bubsy 3D: Furbitten Planet (1996), then Bubsy 3D: James Turrell Retrospective (2013)... but still no Bubsy 3D: The Good Edition?
