Top 10 Gamma Ray Songs with Ralf Scheepers on Vocals

Ralf Scheepers was the first lead singer for German power metal band Gamma Ray (seems Kai Hansen never wanted to be a lead singer but he had to). Ralf recorded 3 albums with the band from 1989 to 1994. Gamma Ray and Ralf parted ways and he co-founded Primal Fear in 1997 where he has been the lead singer ever since. Ralf is more known as the Primal Fear singer but he did a great job in Gamma Ray, too. And Gamma Ray songs with him on vocals deserved a list because they are usually overlooked.

Ralf Scheepers is a very talented singer - his range in the modal register is 4 octaves (i.e. 4 octaves without falsetto). His wide range enables him to hit high tenor notes although his voice type is baritone. His voice and vocal style often resemble Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Ralf voice is very powerful. His sustain is very long and clean.

4 Look at Yourself

A great Uriah Heep cover, one of the best metal covers ever.
I truly believe the original Uriah Heep song was one the first metal songs ever (1971) but it rarely gets credits for that. Uriah Heep as a whole don't get credits.

This song is pretty popular among the Gamma Ray fans - it's a catchy song that is more like hard rock than metal.

Great song! Love that interlude in the middle and on top of that Brad Cheaper's vocals make this song an absolutely epic masterpiece.

This is the longest song Ralf recorded with Gamma Ray (14:29). Incredible vocals.
