Very often bands that play power metal also play speed metal. But not all power metal bands play speed metal. Here are the German bands with the best speed metal songs.Don't forget that (1) speed metal isn't every fast song, (2) speed metal is different from thrash.

Thanks to overdubs and numerous backing vocals Blind Guardian stand out with a very dense sound.

It was interesting to read that Helloween themselves don't think they were speed metal. Maybe they are right. I would say their debut album WOJ was mostly speed metal but not the albums they made after it.
