Good Bands/Music Artists with Ridiculous Fanbases

A fanbase is a very powerful representation of a music artist, symbolizing support, love and devotion. And while many deserve those, some of that can go a little too far regardless.

Which music artists or bands do you think are good, but have a fanbase that tends to polarize you?
The Top Ten
1 Dimash Kudaibergen Dinmukhamed Kanatuly Kudaibergenov, commonly known as Dimash Kudaibergen (born May 24th, 1994) is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dimash is best known as a contestant of Chinese talent show "Singer 2017" where he was declared a runner-up. He is also known for possessing a wide ...read more.

Per ridiculous mass-voting in recent lists. Also, keep in mind this list isn't about BAD singers, its actually the opposite, except many tend to have a rather polarizing fanbase.

You have to hear him to be able to explain what his voice alone can reach your soul. He puts his all into his music and is able to leave you in a euphoric state while listening to his magnificent voice.

Michael Jackson is the only person who is nearly as good as Dimash. At least the haters admit that they don't like it when people vote for who they want to. Its called democracy, and you lost.

Dimash's fans try to match their idol in everything. Maybe we are still not a massive majority, but soon the whole world will be a fan of this brilliant artist !

2 Slayer Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. They rose to fame with their 1986 album Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the big four of thrash metal bands, the others being Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. ...read more.

Do the fans of this band literally just yell out the bands' name just to be obnoxious about liking this band? Sounds pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

This is the first good music artist I think about in terms of a polarizing fanbase. Furthermore, Slayer is the trope definer of this. A lot of people have already pointed out how rabid, crazy and single-minded the fanbase could get. For more, check out Coverkillernation's "5 Reasons why People Hate Slayer". He also placed it at 1st on his "Top 10 Rabid Heavy Metal Fanbases" list as well.

Worst metal fanbase

3 Linkin Park Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The current members include Mike Shinoda (vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ), and Rob Bourdon (drums). Linkin Park is associated with a mixture of alternative rock, hip hop, and techno. Some of their influences include Nine Inch Nails, Deftones,... read more

Considering a chunk of fans are troubled teens (not insulting, so don't give me that, don't you even think about it) who find their music to be extremely relatable and has helped them a Lot more often than not, I completely understand them. Unlike some preppy girls who just ADORE Nickleback, LP has a lot of emotional value to them and sometime feel Chester and Shinoda, especially, that they owe them to defend them. Considering the formula of the musical power, the fans ages and how important the music might be, you can't say this is just a bad fanbase or you didn't expect it. Its like if I talked bad about your sister who helped you through hard times or something, I know some people might not care, but some people would be mad at me. Music, to some people, is a friend and they LOVE their friend. A friend that never puts you down and is always there for you. Just saying..

As a Linkin Park fan myself I must say the fanbase is really bad but I think it's because Linkin Park has many relatable lyrics and many LP fans are troubled pre teens or teenagers so we can get defensive.-DarkBoi-X

4 Megadeth Megadeth is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California. Megadeth was formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine was fired from Metallica. They have released 15 studio albums to date, and have gone through many lineup changes, with Dave Mustaine being the sole constant member.

They released their debut album “Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!” in 1985, but became successful after the release of “Peace Sells...But Who’s Buying?” in 1986. ...read more.

I'd tie this with Metallica, considering how much of the fanbase whines about Metallica having "sold out in the 1990s" and treating Dave Mustaine badly when Mustaine himself was the biggest jerk in the band. In addition, the 1990s was terrible for Thrash Metal, and Megadeth tried to do something different with Youthanasia onward, which concluded with a mess known today as "Risk". Even today, the fanbase continues to criticize Metallica for slight differences and minor problems and boast Megadeth as being "the pinnacle of Metal" when they themselves had their fair share of problems.

I love megadeth, but the problem is that they always bash on Metallica and their fans.

5 Trivium Trivium is an American Heavy Metal band from Orlando, Florida, formed in 1999. Their frontman, Matt Heafy, lead guitarist Corey Beaulieu and Bassist Paulo Gregoletto are the band's most consistent members and have appeared in every album since. ...read more.

Where do I begin with this? As much as I adore Trivium, its elitist fanbase pisses me off a lot, always complaining about the latter albums being disappointing and how the band "sold out", which is clearly BS as Trivium was a relatively popular Metal band since 2005. Sure Ascendancy and Shogun are some of 2000s Metal's greatest, their later discography is great too. In fact, the vocal delivery in those are actually better than what was provided in their earlier days.

6 Metallica Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman".

With their first two albums, Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning reaching underground success, their third effort, Master of Puppets has since become one of the most important heavy metal albums ever, as it became the first thrash metal album to be certified platinum. The title track has since become the band's most played song live. ...read more.

Per Megadeth, except many of the fans keep bashing Dave Mustaine and Megadeth continuously, even after both bands came together in a truce around the 2000s.

Honestly most bands have bad fans and good fans

7 The Beatles The Beatles were an English pop rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The members consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were soon known as the foremost and most influential act of rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat, and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with several genres, ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements in innovative ways. ...read more.

FAR too defensive. There may have been bands that were just as good, if not better than The Beatles during its time. The Beatles tend to represent many traits seen in an overrated band as well, the most prevalent being a series of elitist rock fans (Not all, mind you). While influential and certainly great, they deserve better than close-minded fans.

Fans of this band downright attack people that dislike them and claim that people are dumb for not liking a mediocre boyband.

I don't mind them too much, but as many have said before, the fans are just way too defensive.

I used to be a overly defensive Beatles fan

8 Eminem Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is an American rapper, actor and music producer born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Eminem has sold over 300 million records making him the bestselling hip-hop artist of all time. In addition to his solo career, he is a member of D12 and (with Royce da 5'9") half of the hip-hop duo Bad Meets Evil. Rolling Stone ranked him 83rd on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, calling him the King of Hip Hop. Including his work with D12 and Bad Meets Evil, Eminem has had ten number-one albums on the Billboard 200 and 5 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and 13 worldwide.

Eminem is amazing, but in my opinion, there's a handful of rappers that are better (Rakim, Immortal Technique, Tech N9ne, N.W.A, etc.). The worst thing about Em is his stuck-up fanbase who claim that Eminem is the greatest rapper ever when really he's the only rapper they tend to listen to (I.E. not even a proper Hip-Hop fan). In addition, the amount of fights the fanbase gets into against celebrities whom Eminem engaged in the past makes it worse. In conclusion, Eminem deserves better...

Eminem is great but he's not even Top 10 material. Plus, his fans are annoying and will bash any music made by Eminem's rivals or bash mumble rap unfairly.

Eminem is my favorite pop artist, He is a great rapper, but he is not a god.

What? This guy is trash and should not have a career! Screw him!

9 Jackie Evancho Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Evancho is an American classical crossover singer who gained wide recognition at an early age. Since 2009, she has issued an EP and eight albums, including a platinum and gold album, and three Billboard 200 top 10 debuts. Evancho's latest album 'The Debut', was her eighth consecutive ...read more.

People who don’t understand the tremendous praise and support Jackie Evancho receives around the world have never taken the time to actually listen to her music, or attend one of her concerts. I strongly suggest you make that time. People really do travel from all over the world just to experience a Jackie concert in person. Jackie Evancho voice commands rapt attention and respect, so don’t expect discordant bands, pyrotechnics, autotune, dancers, or other distractions to interfere with the gift she brings to her audiences. Jackie brings her talent to smaller venues of 800 to 2500 seat theaters to insure the entire audience the most intimate experience. No seat is a bad seat at a Jackie concert.

Look, if I have any minor criticism towards her, it doesn't make me a "hater" or a "Belieber." I do not deny her talent, I do not deny her actions, but I do have a basic right of disagreement. Do I find her to be a goddess? No. She's a teen, soon to be an adult in a few years to come, and once she gets there, what's going to distinguish her from other classical singers? Not much. As my brother once said, "She's not my type."
Please, fans of Jackie Evancho, note this. Music evolves. So should you.

I've presented my arguments and got hit with typical arguments like "Classical is the superior genre everything else sucks," "She was praised by the greatest people ever who are you to judge," and "She worked so hard for this." I don't even hate her, I'm just saying there are so many other singers out there.

Much of her attention has kind of died down at this point. She's a great singer, but there's also a lot of other Talent contestants with great singing talent like Connie Talbot and Jonathan Antoine, which really don't get as much attention as they deserve.

10 Kanye West Ye (born Kanye Omari West; June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and fashion designer. He is regarded as one of the most influential, as well as controversial, artists of the 21st century. ...read more.

Great rapper with a terrible personality unfortunately :/. Gets worse when his fanbase tends to defend him for rather questionable reasons.

This fanbase is just weird sometimes.

Whew, they can get crazy..

17 Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was an English hard rock band formed in London in 1968 as the New Yardbirds. The group consisted of Robert Plant (Vocal), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums) and was very much the child of Jimmy Page who even financed their first tour. He had tasted some previous success with The [original] Yardbirds and was friendly with some big names in rock. Page states it was Keith Moon of The Who that claimed the band could only go down, like a lead balloon -- thus prompting the iconic name of Led Zeppelin. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors ...read more.

Pink Floyd is one of my favourite bands but I can admit certain parts of their fanbase can be rather obnoxious. Especially the psuedo-intellectuals and the "I was born in the wrong generation" kids in their fanbase

Not so much ridiculous, as just stoned all the time.

20 Twenty One Pilots Twenty One Pilots is an American musical duo that is originally from Columbus, Ohio, who are best known for their songs "Stressed Out", "Heathens" and "Ride". To be honest I don't even like them, but I know a number of people do, and I have to say my experience with the fans is just...awful.

This is probably the best example on this list.I really like their songs(Especially Holding On To You and Car Radio) but most of their fanbase is rabid.-DarkBoi-X
