Top Ten Good Bands With Bad Lyrics

Lyrics aren't everything in a song, but bad ones stand out. Especially when the bands singing them have pretty much nothing else wrong with them.
The Top Ten
1 Three Days Grace Three Days Grace is a Canadian post-grunge/alternative rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1992 with a line-up consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Adam Gontier, drummer and backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, and bassist Brad Walst. Their original name was Groundswell until they changed it to ...read more.

Their lyrics are meaningful, but they can be pretty corny. Adam Gontier crooning on and on about pain and suicide is good sometimes, but it can be a little bit hard to listen to sometimes.

Actually listening to them as typing this. I think their lyrics are pretty good.

Their lyrics are so easily written.

2 Filter Filter is an American alternative rock band formed in 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio by singer Richard Patrick and guitarist/programmer Brian Liesegang.

Their fist three albums are good, but lyrical standard is completely nonexistent! Some songs pull the lazy "repeat the same line over and over again for the chorus" gag, and some songs seriously use gibberish as lyrics.

3 System Of A Down System of a Down, formed in 1994, is an Armenian-American alternative metal group from Glendale, California. The band name is sometimes shortened to System or SOAD. They've always been a very political band since their inception. Often being against genocide and war most notably in songs like: Pluck, Holy Mountains, and BYOB (Bring Your Own Bombs). Serj is an active activist who wants to change the world for the better.

The band's current members include Serj Tankian (vocalist, keyboards), Daron Malakian (guitarist, vocalist), Shavo Odadjian (bassist), and John Dolmayan (drummer). ...read more.

A few songs by them have really good lyrics, but regarding the majority I agree with you

It's like they write phrases they like, repeat them, and call them song lyrics.

4 For Today For Today is an American Christian metalcore band from Sioux City, Iowa, formed in 2005. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

Now let me say, as a Christian, religion is a good thing, but too much religion is just annoying. When I'm listening to metalcore, little hints of religion are good, but saying "God" "Cross" and "Christ" every five seconds is flat out annoying.

5 My Darkest Days My Darkest Days was a Canadian rock band based in Peterborough, Ontario consisting of lead singer Matt Walst, bassist Brendan McMillan, drummer Doug Oliver, and keyboardist Reid Henry. Matt Walst left the band in 2013 to become the lead singer of Three Days Grace. Their last album that came out was in 2012. It is unknown if they'll release another album or not.

They didn't even try with their song titles either! "Pornstar Dancing"? Am I supposed to take this band seriously?

6 Imagine Dragons Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Provo, Utah, and are now based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Imagine Dragons' lineup consists of lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman. What..this band should not be in this list

7 Rage Against The Machine Rage Against the Machine is a rap metal band formed in Los Angeles, California. The band consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk.

Their lyrics are great if you're left-wing. Their lyrics are really great. I don't see the point of listening to them if you don't like their ideology.

This is UGH how UGH Rage Against The UGH Machine would UGH say UGH this sentence in a UGH song UGH!!!

I have never been bothered about lyrics anyway.

8 Skillet Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996 and based in the United States.
9 Nirvana Nirvana was an American grunge band that was formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana disbanded after Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. The drummer of the band, David Grohl, went on to start the Foo-Fighters, an alternative rock band.

The band was comprised of Kurt Cobain (Vocals, Guitar), Dave Grohl (Drums) and Krist Novoselic (Bass). ...read more.

Kurt writes lyrics that probably only make sense to him. All of his lyrics are really just confusion fuel for everyone else.

When I was young, I couldn't understand the lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit. I'm sure no one else did either.

Nirvana? Oh, come on, their songs are carried by their lyrics. It's beautiful grunge poetry.

10 Slayer Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. They rose to fame with their 1986 album Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the big four of thrash metal bands, the others being Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. ...read more.

I just got an idea for a new Slayer song! Here are the lyrics:

The government is evil, SATAN! (x100)

Classic Slayer!

Slayer lyrics: evil, aggressive, your point is invalid

When they talk about relegion I just listen to the music

The singer's voice is more irritating than the lyrics, but bad voice and bad lyrics are not a good combination

16 Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy is an American pop punk band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

I like a lot of Fall Out Boy songs but their lyrics seldom make any sense.

17 AC/DC AC/DC are a Australian hard rock band, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014 . They were fronted by Bon Scott until his untimely death due to alcohol poisoning in 1979, after which they hired Brian Johnson to front the band. Commonly referred to as a hard rock or blues rock band.

Tons of catchy songs despite having lyrics a 2nd grader could write.

18 Guns N’ Roses

Izzy is a better songwriter than Axl, but both are mediocre songwriters at best. A lot of Guns N' Roses are full of misogyny.

19 The Cult The Cult are a British rock band formed in 1983. Before settling on their current moniker in January 1984, the band performed under the names Southern Death Cult and Death Cult.
