Top 10 Great Cartoons that Were Cancelled Way Too Soon

Whether they be a failed pilot or a TV show, they were cancelled too soon for various reasons.
The Top Ten
1 Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi is an American-Japanese animated fantasy-comedy television series created by Sam Register for Cartoon Network.

The series increased Cartoon Network's viewership back in the 2000s. It centered around the animated Puffy AmiYumi, and was inspired by Rocky and Bullwinkle, Hanna-Barbera, old MGM and Warner Bros. cartoons, and UPA cartoons, while maintaining its anime influence. Why was it cancelled? Two reasons.

1. The series, along with Teen Titans (2003) were overshadowed by the popularity of Ben 10 and My Gym Partner's a Monkey.
2. Renegade Animation went on to do the work on the live-action/animated Cartoon Network television movie Re-Animated.

Those were why Sam Register, creator and showrunner of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi quit Cartoon Network in 2006. Even when Cartoon Network picked up a 4th season! This show should've lasted until 2009, if it wasn't for Ben 10, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, and Out of Jimmy's Head.

Ben 10 never should've existed. Cartoon Network was better off with this AND the original Teen Titans instead of Ben 10. - RegularShowFTWSuperjailFTL

god dammit ben 10

2 Invader ZIM Invader Zim is an American animated television series created by Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon. The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim from the planet Irk, and his mission to conquer Earth and enslave the human race along with his malfunctioning robot servant GIR.

I don't understand why people want this show to come back but they didn't even watch it when it was on T.V. cause of low ratings. MAKE UP YOUR MIND PEOPLE

As you'd expect, it had low ratings amongst the target audience.

Do you love ariana grande?

3 The Modifyers The Modifyers is an American animated pilot that was developed by Chris Reccardi and Lynne Naylor for Nickelodeon. Though it was never picked up as a full series, the pilot gained a cult following for its unique art style and premise, which involves secret agents and a hidden world of villains. Despite its short lifespan, The Modifyers has remained notable for its potential and is often cited in discussions about "lost" or "unrealized" animated projects.

I know this did not become a T.V. show, but why was it rejected? It was created by Lynne Naylor and Chris Reccardi, whose other credits include Chowder, Ren and Stimpy, the Powerpuff Girls, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Tiny Toon Adventures, Samurai Jack, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. It even stars the talents of Mae Whitman, Paul Rugg, and Jeff Bennett. Why was it rejected? Not only that cliffhanger ending, but it was done in favor of Back at the Barnyard. Or maybe it was that female protagonist, unless the Mighty B! was greenlit.

Nickelodeon must've done a HORRIBLE movie like that. Disney Channel should've picked up the series if Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon won't.

I don't get why people are still begging for this show to come on even though it's been at least 15 years since the pilot got rejected.

This should've been greenlit instead of that garbage Mighty B!

4 Chowder Chowder is an American animated television series created by C.H. Greenblatt for Cartoon Network. The series follows an aspiring young child named Chowder and his day-to-day adventures as an apprentice in Chef Mung Daal's catering company.

Seriously, I liked Chowder which was such a great Cartoon Network show that never should have been cancelled. It would have lasted more longer than that ridiculous Teen Titans Go.

It was cancelled because Cartoon Network thought it was too childish and they wanted more live-action shows. It's a shame, because this is one of my favorite Cartoon Network shows.

This was sadly cancelled, because it did not fit with Cartoon Network's older boy demographic.

People only like chowder because of the memes

5 Sym-Bionic Titan Sym-Bionic Titan is an American animated action science fiction television series created by Genndy Tartakovsky, Bryan Andrews, and Paul Rudish for Cartoon Network.

Created by Paul Rudish, Bryan Andrews, and Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, Sym-Bionic Titan was acclaimed for its intense action and writing, as well as big budget animation. Why was it cancelled? It did not have a toy line. So, instead, we got the Problem Solverz to replace its time slot.

I really love this show! It just sickens me that Cartoon Network had to cancel this show in favor of that Problem Solverz show! - RegularShowFTWSuperjailFTL

cartoon network is so stupid

I remember seeing this years ago.

6 Teen Titans Teen Titans is an American animated television series created by Glen Murakami, based on the DC Comics characters of the same name.

I heard there wasn't much merchandise for the show, so they cancelled it.

My sis and I used to watch every episode of this... now it's gone and all what's left is the awful TTG..

This show should NOT have ended the way it did.

Again. Overshadowed by Ben 10.

7 The Adventures of Calamity Jane
8 Earthworm Jim (1995-1996)

Was based off of a video game and is STILL a far better show than Ren & Stimpy

9 Fanboy & Chum Chum Fanboy & Chum Chum is an American 3D CGI animated television series created by Eric Robles for Nickelodeon. It is based on Fanboy, an animated short created by Robles for Nicktoons and Frederator Studios, which was broadcast August 14, 2009 to July 12, 2014 on Random! Cartoons. The series was first broadcast October 12, 2009 on Nickelodeon as a preview, then officially premiered November 6, 2009 after SpongeBob's Truth or Square.
10 Catscratch Catscratch is an American animated television series created by Doug TenNapel (also known for creating Earthworm Jim). It was aired on both Nickelodeon and Nicktoons on July 9, 2005 and ended February 10, 2007. It is an adaptation of TenNapel's graphic novel, Gear, which is also the name of the cats' monster truck. The series features music composed by longtime TenNapel collaborator, Terry Scott Taylor. Catscratch's first DVD appearance was on Nick Picks Vol. 3, which came out on February 7, 2006 (though the DVD contained only "Bringin' Down the Mouse").

Apparently, Nick felt like it doesn't deserve a proper DVD release (its only episodes released are two of them on the Nick Pick DVDs).

This came out the same year as Avatar.

Created by Peter Chung, it originally aired as a part of MTV's "Liquid Television" experimental animation series. The show explores dystopian themes and revolves around a mysterious assassin named Aeon Flux. Notable for its complex narratives and surrealistic animation, it has garnered a cult following over the years.
16 Korgoth of Barbaria

Created by Aaron Springer, a writer for Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, SpongeBob SquarePants, and the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and starring the voices of Diedrich Bader, Tom Kenny, John DiMaggio, Corey Burton, and the late Craig T. Raisner. This series is what happens when you cross Conan the Barbarian with Rick and Morty.

This was even picked up for a series by [adult swim], but was unfortunately rejected due to its high budget. It was later rejected in favor of shows like Superjail! and Xavier: Renegade Angel, which had a LOWER budget.

20 Sonic Boom Sonic Boom is a computer-animated television series, produced by Sega of America, Inc. and Technicolor Animation Productions in collaboration with Lagardère Thématiques and Jeunesse TV, respectively for Cartoon Network, Canal J, and Gulli.

The first season is a hit and miss season, but the second one is really good! Too bad by the time everyone realized this, the show ended.

This show was NEVER good! I'm glad it got cancelled.

21 Planet Sheen Planet Sheen is an American CGI animated television series.
