121 Japan

Musically the most talented band on this list, bar none. Could have achieved greatness

Everything they did nearly 40 years ago still sounds fresh today.

A band not happy with the commercial side of the music industry but what a live act.

Best music of the 80's by far, Sylvian a brilliant writer

WOW... 118 really... This band is fantastic! They are the epitome of an 80's band... Great music, should be top 30 at the very least!

The Fixx is very underrated. Their songs have a lot of depth and meaning
Great band!

The Fixx should be in the top 25. This band had hit after hit and were very talented musicians and song writters.

124 The Jam The Jam

And the Style Council should also be on this list.

As with all great bands time hasn't dulled their songs great writing great bass and a top drummer

Best song writer / live act listed here along with The Who

Not just a band but a movement and a way of life

Not sure whose opinion this list was... But here's mine. Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands EVER! Lots of great bands on this list... But Pink Floyd should be #5 on any list! Thought this was an 80's list? See a lot of bands on here that came out well before the 80's?

This is a "contest" for the Eighties, not what they did in the Sixties and Seventies... This band should NEVER have reformed without Roger... Their albums without him simply were not good enough to be called PF albums! Not that they were bad, they weren't, but David was a great guitar player and vocalist, not a prolific writer!

139? Are you kidding me? Best selling album and they are 139. Who would put A ha ahead of pink Floyd? They should be top 20 at least.

The final cut was ok, but amlor wasn't that exciting - ChefSkinner

Sound Garden is the best rock band till date... Experience and then you would know what they are all about.

132 The Human League

Love this band. One of the greatest eighties bands. All I can say is "don't' you want me baby"

Why is this 142! They should be in the Top Ten, as should Depeche Mode! Music legends, still going strong and sounding and looking amazing!

Really influential need to be top 20

WHY 137? IT'S THE BEST FROM THE '80S!

134 Supertramp

Lost steam without Roger Hodgson during the '80's, but without doubt one of the greatest bands of all time!

Absolutely one of the greatest of their time!

135 Novecento
136 Hue & Cry
137 Oingo Boingo

Oingo Boingo missing from this list entirely is a travesty. Best of the up tempo post punk bands, known for their awesome Halloween concerts and Danny Elfman has gone on to greater glory scoring movies for Tim Burton and creating the theme music for the Simpsons and others.

Yes, Yes, YES! I have waited so long for someone to mention Oingo Boingo in ANY list. Why must they be overlooked by everyone? Why we they so unloved?

MY FAVORITE BAND. Very much an 80s band, but mixing synth pop, ska, punk, and jazz gives them a unique style. Listen to Insanity for an absolute masterpiece.

How is this band not higher? Love the upbeat feeling of their songs. Shame they're overlooked in almost everything.

Great band, and still fun to listen to today. Just added them to my play list last week!

139 The Housemartins

They are better than most out there
