I'm surprised to see them this high on the list... They're one of the best lesser known bands

85 The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Solid country rock -- associated with Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Pure Prairie League, Poco.

Should be ranked much, much higher. Probably not because of some country, or too much.

86 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. In 1976, the band's original lineup was Tom Petty as the lead singer and guitar player, Mike Campbell as the lead guitarist, Ron Blair on bass, Stan Lynch on drums, and Benmont Tench on keyboards. 87 The Guess Who The Guess Who The Guess Who was a Canadian rock band formed in 1962. The band was formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is mostly known for their hit "American Woman".

A great band. They sold more records in 1970 than any other band. To put them at #94 is completely bonkers. The were easily in the top 20 bands of the era.

Great band to grow up listening to--rock at its finest.

88 Three Dog Night

Many hits. Their voices also were the sound of the 70s, at least in NYC.

89 The Good Rats

Great Party band. Knew them.

90 Parliament

Should be in the top 10 range. 1 of the best lead guitar players of all time, eddie hazel

91 Captain Beyond
92 Raspberries

Always underrated. Great rock.

93 Fanny
94 Allman Brothers

Awesome band. Went to see them at Summerfest in milwaukee, Wi (worlds largest music fest- 10 days of every kind of music), rained out. Went to bar nearby. Who walks in, right, Allman Bros. Small stage with instruments. THEY WENT UP & PLAYED!

Listen to blue sky, ramblin man and Whipping Post. Great songs - randomstofil

95 The J. Geils Band

These guys should be way higher. They have so many amazing hits and they're an outstanding band. I love the J. Geils Band. They need so much more credit and recognition.

Top 5 live band of all time... Limited catalogue yes... But enough for 2.5 to 3 hours of the most high energy- well played soulful R&B with outstanding lead showman...

96 Bee Gees Bee Gees The Bee Gees were a pop music group formed in 1958. Their line-up consisted of brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb.

Really? #125? The best band of the 70s is #125? I think you people really need to adjust your music choices. It is just sad to see that you think so low of the Bee Gees. I am very disappointed in all of you!

How can you not love the pitch perfect harmonies of the Gibb brothers. The group that made disco dancing a night club favorite.

Huh? Were you alive in the 70's...the Bee Gees ruled that decade

Pitiful list

97 Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young Crosby, Stills & Nash were an American-British-Canadian folk rock supergroup made up of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash. They were known as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young when joined by occasional fourth member Neil Young.

102? 102?!?!?! "Helplessly Hoping," "Judy Blue Eyes," "Our House," "Teach Your Children," "Find the Cost of Freedom"...classics, I say! And I was born in 1996!

99 The Little River Band

Without a doubt one of the best - incredible harmonies and a unique guitar sound with a wide range of songs from ballads to rock.

A great Australian Band... I put them in the same category as The Eagles.
