Greatest Bands of the 1970s
The Contenders: Page 7
still one of the greatest bands of all time.
The only thing that pisses me off about this list is that jackson 5 are in the top 10... I wish I was born in the 70s...
Should be In the top 10. Best live band of the decade
Debbie, Chris and the gang were great and they were flexible doing a lot of genres. Not a lot of bands can make that claim.
Are you kidding? By the end of the 70s they were one of the top bands in album sales and an arena icon! Incredible singers and musicians. What's not to love.
But at least they edged out The Partridge Family.
At the time the only band to ever have 4 consecutive triple platinum albums! How can they only rank 131st! Top 10 band for sure!
These guys are just criminally underrated. Should At least be in the top twenties.
It's insane to put Tull so low on this list. I saw most of these bands play live. Tull was in a league all their own miles above most of these groups. They were by far the best touring band I've seen and I've seen The Who, Pink Floyd, Heart, CSN, ZZ TOP, Yes, Chicago, James Taylor (had a great band), Doobie Bros., Foghat, Montrose, BOC, Uriah Heep, Kansas, The Eagles, Outlaws, Dirt Band, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk, REO, etc. Etc. Etc.. Any list that starts with ABBA is a joke anyway. I saw many of the greats. Tull was by far the best. It isn't even close.
Greatest band ever thick as a brick passion play pure genius ian is the greatest songwriter of all time they never get the respect they should
Tull should be higher on this list for several reasons, but most people forget that as a live band they excelled. Not only was the Passion Play tour one of the biggest tours of 1973, when Jethro Tull played the LA Foum during that tour they sold out 5 nights, breaking the previous record set by The Rolling Stones. A show with flawless sound and musicianship!
This list is a mess
Jethro tull at 46 what
I recently got into Tull but I have listen to like 50 songs in a weekend
Amazing vocals, unique music, extraordinary lyrics
I found everything I am looking for in music in
Simply the best out of the whole list of 70's music!
The greatest band ever with the greatest song ever baring none.
Not on the list? Shame on everyone's visited this page lol
No way Skynyrd isn't in top 10. Their music is played more today than any other band. in my opinion their #1, great lyrics, great vocals, great guitar.V 4 Comments
Best ever band that transcends decades!
How many of the bands listed above can boast that they are still touring 45 years later and are in the top ten in highest grossing currently touring rock bands. They are still the best "Singers in a Rock and Roll Band"!
Justins voice is as beautiful as it was 45 years ago, and still on tour. Next june in Amsterdam!
Suprised it's so high... - MusicalPonyV 157 Comments
Can't believe they're only 73! Jeff lynne is a rock genius writer/composer/producer, produced for the likes of george harrison/tom petty/ big o and so on, up there with the best! Certainly higher than 73! And that's a fact, most records in billboard top 20 record etc etc etc
Jeff Lynne is an all time legend.
Very under rated and overlooked.
So many hit albums and singles.
I agree Jeff Lynne has a voice straight from heaven. I love Mr. Blue Sky!
A string of wonderful records throughout the decade, for me they are the sound of the 70's. badly under-rated on this chart.V 3 Comments
Should a lot higher than this. At least in the top 20
Crime of the Century.
A great band, they deserve better than this
Super in concert
They should be up there with Styx and Aero Smith. I see Styx ix down too. Bad polls.
Really? #125? The best band of the 70s is #125? I think you people really need to adjust your music choices. It is just sad to see that you think so low of the Bee Gees. I am very disappointed in all of you!
How can you not love the pitch perfect harmonies of the Gibb brothers. The group that made disco dancing a night club favorite.
Huh? Were you alive in the 70's...the Bee Gees ruled that decade
The Bee Gees are the top group of the 1970s!V 3 Comments
Since when was Barry Manilow a GROUP? The reason that Bob Marley and David Bowie haven't made the list.
