Greatest Bob Dylan Songs
The Contenders: Page 2
"lay lady lay" was the first song that made me pay attention to dylan's music. however I was disappointed when I discovered only 2 more great songs from his so many albums: "knocking on heaven's door", "it's all over now baby blue". concerning why he is loved that much I think it's because of lyrics he wrote, rather than the music he composed. maybe I'm wrong. (? )
Probably one of, if not THE, sexiest songs ever made.
Just the same I vote for this tone number one. By far one of the greatest and sexiest songs ever
Worst song everV 2 Comments
In high school I was disqualified from the school talent show for playing this. But I went out to the parking lot and played it in front of about forty people after the show. Its the only real protest song of the last fifty years.
Can someone tell me what this song is doing at #24?
Listen to this song, it's the 1 simple melody for 4.30 minutes which makes this song so unique, it deserves to be in the TOP 5.
Describes war in one song. Perfect on every level.
This song, and our times, could have never coincided at a more needful moment.
Really this makes top ten for me
"Just like a woman but she breaks just like a little girl". That's beautiful
"When we meet again, introduced as friends
Please don't let it on that you knew me when
I was so hungry - and it was your World... L - Billyv
Probably the most beautiful and emotionally charged song I've ever heard.
This song really gives me chills because Dylan sings it so well. Great job with this one.
Many greatly love this song, and perhaps may never find their way to this poll...
It's incredible beautiful and moving.V 1 Comment
A very relatable song for so many people. Girl leaves boy. One of the saddest yet best songs I've ever heard.
Always have loved this song, underrated in my opinion.
This must be his most underrated song. It is great!
This song has been extremely Important to me, it inspired my poem 'The social classes'. It explores the way people choose to live their life and his reaction to their choices. He distances himself from those who won't break away from the machine that is society which tries to confine peoples thoughts and behaviour. - liamh1381
Greatest lyrical masterpiece of all of music. Though not as musically powerful as Like a Rolling Stone or Visions of Johanna, this protest of all of society's hypocrisy has a deserved place among the greater of American poetry.
'That it is not he or she or them or it that you belong to' that line alone deserves a place in the top ten
This song is one of the most important influences on my world view, aside from things that happened to me directly. I also admire Dylan's braveness for addressing the greatest taboo in our society. The closing line is so powerful it sends chills running up and down my spine.V 3 Comments
When I have the opportunity to be a father, I can understand the meaning of this masterpiece! Make me Cry!
Sing it to everyone you Love! - Billyv
It has to b in the top ten
I believe the song's title is Highway 61 with Revisited added to it as the album title - Billyv
Can't believe that this wasn't even on the list, a great relaxing song that inspired Roger Waters to write Pink Floyd's 'Echoes', enough said!V 2 Comments
Greatest song ever written.
My dad would play this song on guitar almost all the time. I grew up with it and its still my favorite song.
Like all great songs, open to interpretation and meaningful in any way you look at it. This is one of my all time favourite songs
Absolutely fantastic. Sung in his own unique style. A man without an equal.
How the hell this song is so low?V 2 Comments
I have followed Dylan since the 60's. So many good songs. I think this is one of his best.

"Behind every beautiful thing, there's been some kind of pain"
Life after 50 and we are all lucky to see it.
Great song, recorded but left off of Blood On The Tracks which helps show how good that album is and what a fantastic period of creativity Dylan was in at the time - Billyv
"My body's tellin me - I love you still...
... Let me feel your love one more time before I abandon it" - Billyv
I really love this song especially when he sang it with Johnny Cash.
