What?! This should totally be in the top 10. It's so powerfully elegant, blossoming passionate grandeur. A flawless composition.
Beautiful, just beautiful, especially the 2nd movement. This one piece inspired three of the greatest film scores of all time: star wars, Lord of the Rings and jaws. What other pieces here can you say that about?
Especially the 4th movement. The one that got me into classical music.
I love the whole symphony! My favorite part is the second movement! It has a cor anglais solo, I love cor anglais solos. The second movement is my favorite piece out of all music on the world.
This beautiful piece of music perfectly capture the spirit and essence of hobbits and and their beautiful and peaceful land, the Shire, a fictional location envisioned by Tolkien which represents all that the earth should have been, a peaceful and beautiful place in which the inhabitants are unhindered by greed, hate, and war of this corrupt and tainted world.
I've heard this master piece to much and I've won a musical competition with this piece on solo piano. But before you can understand Gershwin you have know who he was and to listen to some other of his orchestral pieces (like An American in Paris, Piano Concerto, Cuban Overture, Second Rhapsody, Girl Crazy overture, etc.) and his piano preludes. Some people say that American composers Aaron Copland (1900-1990) and Gershwin have the same music but that isn't true! But over Rhapsody in blue: It's a rhapsody like a piano concerto composed in 1924 and is in my opinion on number 15-20 in my top 40 Classical pieces and the best piece of George Gershwin. The famous version of these days is arranged by American Ferde Grofé and the original jazz band version is composed by Gershwin, the piano solo played by Gershwin (There is still an audio from his performance), and the piece is conducted by Paul Whiteman. The Gershwin audio is 10 minutes and the full version is 16-19 minutes and sometimes ...more
Honestly people haven't heard this thing enough! It's combination of classical music and jazz takes pride as it describes New York City beautifully, played out in the Disney movie Fantasia 2000 of course.
I had quite the fit of tears...
Vivid excitement through trills and grandeur
The Can-can that can!
