Top 10 Best Def Leppard Songs

The Top Ten
1 Pour Some Sugar on Me

Best Def Leppard song ever. I just love it. A simple rock song about pouring sugar, that one of the band members thought of during a five-minute coffee break. Epic!

The song really pours some sugar on me. I think it is the best song of the band, and it is all about love. Just love it, it's awesome.

My favorite song. Perhaps their most downloaded and famous song. You just cannot ignore anything from the beginning guitar riff to the catchy chorus. Even young kids know about it. It is just pure awesomeness!

2 Photograph

Such an iconic song that legendary guitar god Carlos Santana did a cover of this with Chris Daughtry (an artist whom I love), and it's a very good cover too.

No song screams Def Leppard like the original hit, Photograph! Perry hits every note with his perfect seething tone as he longs for his lost love, Monroe, as the video shows us. I'm a big pop culture guy, and when asked which Def Leppard song was their most popular and most famous, without hesitation, I said "Photograph." I then proceeded to get shot down by 8-10 people, who all agreed, Pour Some Sugar on Me! There's no way!

3 Hysteria

Absolutely amazing tune by Def Leppard. This song has grown for me significantly over the last 5 years or so. It's always been good and it feels like a classic when I hear it, but everything about this tune is good to me.

I believe this song was what put Def Leppard on the "charts." Such a great song. I believe that this song should be above "Pour Some Sugar on Me" because of its connection to ourselves. Don't get me wrong, "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is a great tune, but I don't agree with it being their top song.

4 Love Bites

This song could be released today and easily top the charts. It's hands down their best ballad! Gotta love the 80's chicks in the video, nice hat, sunglasses, necklace, and the cheesy spruced-up set with the super 80's spiral staircase! If this was the only song the band ever produced, I'd be fine with it!

Easy vote for me, this is quite possibly the best Def Leppard song ever made. Just listen to the guitar riffs between the chorus, just goes to show how good Steve and Phil worked together. Put that with Joe's voice on the track and boom! Hit record even today.

5 Foolin'

This is the best Def Leppard song, in my opinion. Sure, Pour Some Sugar on Me is the most popular of them all, but this song is better, even though all of their songs rock. My list is:

1. Foolin
2. Let's Get Rocked
3. Photograph
4. Pour Some Sugar on Me
5. Make Love Like a Man
6. Women
7. Two Steps Behind
8. Armageddon It
9. Hysteria
10. Love Bites
11. Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad
12. Animal
13. Rock of Ages

Foolin' is THE classic Def Leppard song. Songs really don't get better than this. This has got to be my favorite by the British heavy metal band! Should definitely be number 1 with Pour Some Sugar on Me right behind!

6 Animal

It was my first Def Leppard song I heard and etched itself in my memory forever. A classic song that has never aged and needs to be played very loud, complete with long hair flowing with the headbanging, and don't forget the air guitar!

Amazing classic riffs accompanied by great production make this song such a classic in all rock sets that it just cannot be left out. The best one out there.

Maybe not number 1, but should definitely be in the top 5! Love how the verse gradually builds to the chorus, fun rocking song!

7 Rock of Ages

I had a really hard time choosing between this and Photograph, but this one just barely wins. Hardcore raw rock at its finest, Joe Elliot's screaming vocals, Phil and Steve's guitar work, the cowbell beat of Rick Allen, plus it's a guaranteed sing-along at all of Def Leppard's concerts.

I lose my bloody ever-loving mind every single time I hear this song! The crowd goes insane when they play it in concert. One of my very favorite Def Leppard songs of all time... Rock of Ages!

Hands down, the best song of Def Leppard. Catchy lyrics, excellent guitar work, and a solid melody. Joe Elliott's best performance.

8 Bringin' on the Heartbreak

What? This is the best Def Leppard song and one of the best songs EVER, you crazy fools. Bringing On The Heartbreak.

Easily the best Def Leppard song, no contest! Do you want to get rocked? Uh, no.

My favorite rock ballad. Steve knew how to play with soul. I knew about love only through this song.

9 Armageddon It

No comments on this one yet? Okay, I'll do it. The song is a fantastic play on words. But Steve's solo really does it for me. It's simple, but it has great build and delivery. R.I.P. Steve.

This song is underrated, in my opinion, and deserves to be higher on this list. Definitely one of the most exciting songs and personally my favorite!

This is my favorite Def Leppard song, with Foolin' being a close second. Pour Some Sugar on Me is overrated.

10 Too Late for Love

Bull. This song is so strong, it's number 1, and attempts to place it at the bottom of the list should be immediately discredited. Basically, if you didn't grow up in the 80s, then you shouldn't have the right to vote.

Number 1 - the message contained in the lyrics was prophetic to today's world. Too late for love - all that's left is hate today. The curtain has closed on the Queen of the dream - it's too late. Too late for love.

Way better than most of the other ones. Definitely one of my favorites and should at least be in the top five.

The Contenders
11 Rocket

This song is one of the very best songs from the Hysteria album. It has a very special voice from the singer.

I just saw them live, and this was the most exciting of all. Next was Rock of Ages, and then Bring On The Heartbreak.

This should be in the top ten. It should replace Animal.

12 Let's Get Rocked

This is the song that drew me in, before I even knew the name of the band. I have loved their sound in every era since. Since they asked, the answer is yes, every day!

This is awesome for teenagers of this day, Let's Get Rocked. I have only listened to Def Leppard music for about a month, and I think this is an awesome song. I listen to it every day. Adrenalize is the best album they have, I think. This song somewhat tells a story about kids. Do you wanna get rocked?

If you aspire to be a rocker, nothing lifts your mood as much as the lyrics of this song... Listen closely... Must be in the top ten.

13 Gods of War

A meaningful tune that also sounds awesome.
Also, the Def Leppard song that drew me to the rest of the band's awesome songs.
Also, my personal favorite!

For years and years, this song has never left my head. In my opinion, it's the best ever.

I love the riff. Steve Clark will really be missed.

14 Let It Go

Probably Def Leppard's best song. The opening riff is legendary, and the song just slams you from beginning to end. A great song from Def Leppard's best album.

This really deserves to be higher. Great guitar and GREAT singing. This should easily make the top 5.

One of the best riffs in the history of rock! This song is certainly the best of Def Leppard. LET IT GO... awesome! Def Leppard ROCKS.

15 Die Hard the Hunter

And I thought Rock of Ages was kickass. This one makes me feel like I am in an actual gunfight.

Extremely underrated song. Best in my opinion.

Best Def Leppard song and does not get the credit it deserves.

16 When Love and Hate Collide

I can see this song isn't as high on this list as I rate it, but that's understandable since Def Leppard has so many good songs. But if you asked me what my favorite Def Leppard song of all time is, then this song, When Love and Hate Collide, would be your answer from me. I have so many memories of growing up and hearing this in my parents' car. It was always a bop as those first chords hit into that instrumental, and that drumming too.

Powerful, when you lose someone and remember them, it hurts so much. Definitely a Leppard power ballad, Joe slams it home on this one. Listen to it and see.

Two thumbs up, thank you Def Leppard for recording this.

17 High 'n' Dry (Saturday Night)

I love the guitar at the start. It has such a smooth and cool vibe at the beginning, yet it's still tough. As I've gotten older, I find the HIGH AND DRY album to be the best. It's truly great hard rock. The guitar riffs are amazing on every song. It just feels like great rock all around.

My younger self would have picked Hysteria, but my older self now finds that it's too polished. HIGH AND DRY is straight-up rock and roll and holds the test of time better.

This is a fine song, and the album as a whole is seriously good and very underrated. It is not as strong in the guitar work as others on High 'n' Dry, but it's very good nonetheless.

18 Women

This song is so powerful, so energetic, the bass line is electrifying. Joe Elliott's vocals reach levels never achieved before or since. This song only reached number 80 on the Billboard 100. This is the most ridiculous. It should have surpassed "Love Bites" at number one because it is better.

It boggles my mind to figure out why this song is not more popular. Come on! Play this song out loud. We need more rock and roll songs like this instead of the Lady Gaga/Miley Cyrus garbage.

I now pronounce the wedding couple man and wife. You may kiss the bride.

19 Promises

Why do people only vote for what's popular instead of substance? I was going to vote for Die Hard the Hunter, but although Promises may seem a little "poppy" so to speak, it's actually a pretty powerful song and deserves the #1 spot.

This song deserves a top 10 position! This is one of their best. While you can't go wrong with "Photograph" or "Pour Some Sugar on Me," this song is up there with those songs. Come on, people! This should be higher!

What? How is this 31? This epic song belongs in the top 10 easily. This is my other favorite song (the other one is Photograph). Both songs are awesome, and I'm disappointed in the people who ranked this at 31.

20 White Lightning

I really like this song, even though it is very long. 7-minute songs are good because you get to listen to them for longer.

This song is amazing. I can't even imagine what it was like for them to lose Steve. Great song.

21 Billy's Got a Gun

I can't believe this song is not in the top ten. This is no radio song, this is the real deal. Definitely Leppard at their very best.

Most impressive song musically from a songwriter's standpoint. The chromatic movement with strings and well-crafted key changes show Steve's classical influences.
Matt Leyes (Def Leppard)

I'm sure I'm the only one who likes this song. But in my opinion, it deserves to be in the top ten.

22 Stagefright

Stagefright is the Def Leppard song I am addicted to! Thanks to my dad for getting me the CD! I am obsessed!

This song is absolutely awesome. If I'm in a bad mood, it puts me out immediately, and it is so catchy and wonderful!

Should be much higher on the list!

23 Lady Strange

This list should be the top ten Leppard songs after every song on High 'n' Dry! Every song on High 'n' Dry (except High 'n' Dry) kicks the crap out of every other song Leppard has done.

This is the best song from Def Leppard's greatest album. It should get a lot more respect.

Another great song from the best rock album in the world ever: High 'n' Dry!

24 Mirror, Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)

Hard to believe this one doesn't come in at the top of people's favorites. The opening with the synchronized guitars and the measured progression into the first chorus just rocks. The way the axe appears later during the vocals rips into your ears.

Mirror, Mirror is the best song on the best album. The band got bigger and bigger, but the energy level from the High and Dry album has not even been approached.

Hard rocking, definitely Leppard at their best. Amazing catchy riff, great bass, great lyrics... it should be a lot higher.

25 Rock Rock (Till You Drop)

It should be number one or number two at least.

A very underrated Def Leppard song!
