43 Jennifer Holliday

Great live performer! Cheated out of the Oscar for the best sound!

44 Phyllis Hyman

I love this woman singing, she was the most phenomenal sounding female artist of all times to me.. I still have a hard time with the loss of this beautiful life and great artist.

Can anyone please tell me why this goddess of R&B is only number 43?!? This is ridiculous! There is absolutely no one else who can compare - either in quality of sound or interpretation of lyric - with the possible exception of Angela Bofill (the only difference being that Angela sang soprano and Phyllis was an alto). What a disgrace!

Phyllis Hyman should be higher. Her voice is timeless.

Saw her 14 times and teena marie 10 times my 2 favorites of all time

50 Natalie Cole Natalie Cole

This incredible singer is music's most diverse singer. She can belt out a song like I Can't Say No and I'm Catching Hell, and then get tender on a song such as Someone That I Used to Love. She has covered everything from Pop to Espanol. Unlike her contemporaries, Ms. Cole is not afraid to experiment with different genres...she doesn't follow the latest trends just for a HIT record, she records music with beautiful lyrics and sounds. Not to mention, she has written some good songs as well including the beautiful jazzy flavored gem "La Costa". Don't sleep on this lady, she is incredible!

Superb talent. One of the top 10 singers of all time.

51 Fantasia

Fantasia is by far the most underrated artist out here. She finds a way to do good ar&B and still include the gospel in her music. I know people won't agree to this but in my opinion the best female artist since 2004. She makes music that gets you through and not to mention a beautiful personality.

She is a very good singer and I think she's really pretty & I Love her music

She should be top 10

52 Deniece Williams

This amazing artist began her career singing back up for Stevie Wonder as a member of Wonderlove. She has a five-octave range; in fact, her range is so astronomical, she was laying down vocals a third or more above Minnie Riperton on Minnie's first album (long before anyone even ever heard of Mariah Carey). She should certainly be ranked higher than #50! - SusieQ1218

Instantly recognizable high octave voice. She was calling birds long before Mariah

Simply one of the greatest female R&B singers of all time.

A songbird with the greatest sound ever!
