The Contenders: Page 6

101 The Number of the Beast - Dave Murray/Adrian Smith

This is grade A 100% good good legend crap right there

102 Money - Pink Floyd

I can't believe this isn't on the list! The guitar solo in Money is crazy iconic. What Pink Floyd fan doesn't know every note by heart?

What he said.

103 Whispering A Prayer - Steve Vai
104 Tender Surrender - Steve Vai

Sure, it sounds like its played over a cheesy backing track, but hey man, it's Steve Vai! His impeccable timing and good phrasing creates an interesting and complicated combination of sounds.

105 Since I’ve Been Loving You - Jimmy Page V 2 Comments
106 Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson

First song that comes to mind when I think of guitar solos.

107 Nottingham Lace - Buckethead

If you want a true definition of a solo you will listen to this one. If you want an eargasm solo you will listen to this solo live. - JXJ

This is Top Ten class. Unbelievable to see this at 70.

108 Welcome to the Jungle - Slash

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE WON'T YOU BRING IT TO YOUR KNEES? I love the guitar solo it goes perfectly with the tone of the rest of the song.

109 Immigrant Song - Jimmy Page V 3 Comments
110 Down by the River - Neil Young
111 Moonage Daydream - Mick Ronson

Don't know if this is the best but it is my favourite.

112 All for Nothing - Brad Delson

If this is the guy from Linkin Park he deserves a lower position.

113 Come Clarity - Björn Gelotte
114 Europa - Carlos Santana
115 Limelight - Alex Lifeson

Alex incorporated so much emotion into this song, giving the solo a lonely and isolated sound. It fits so well with the lyrics. It also shows you don't have to shred like crap to make an amazingly beautiful solo.

116 Road to Nowhere - Zakk Wylde
117 Hand of Doom - Karl Logan
118 Knockin on Heaven's Door - Slash
119 Whiskey In The Jar - Eric Bell
120 Nothing Else Matters - James Hetfield

This solo is the definition of what Metallica along side fade to black. eruption is not bad but its not good either

98 what?! This solo (albeit short) is so full of emotion and feeling I just have to stop what I'm doing and just experience it every time. Can I call it a SOULo? I'm calling it a soulo. Top 20 at least.
