The Top Ten
Dave. Kirk is good, but he overused the way and isn't as technical as Dave. I prefer Metallica over Megadeth, but Dave is running circles around Kirk. - Userguy44
Dave Mustaine. Way better technically, and can shred for days. Hammett is good, and very well known, and is more successful than dave but, there is no way dave would lose that battle. The entire Kill Em All album speaks for itself, because its all dave mustaine.

Slash is Nothing compared to the Incredible BUCKETHEAD! - Nirmal1991USA
This isn't eve a good comparison. Only reason people compare Slash with Buckethead because both of them were in Guns N' Roses. Buckethead's competitors are Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen or Michael Angelo Batio. He puts efforts in his songs. Slash is good but he is living on his fame. People who say Buckethead doesn't have emotion should listen to too many humans, Aunt Suzie or Whitewash. If not anything else, then the only reason I say Buckethead is better than Slash is because BUCKETHEAD CAN GET EMOTION LIKE SLASH. BUT SLASH CAN'T GET FAST OR TECHNICAL LIKE BUCKETHEAD. - zxm
Easily, Ritchie Blackmore - more technical, more innovative and faster. He was the first metal shredder and the first metal guitarist who used tremolo picking (now found everywhere in extreme metal - esp. black and death metal).
His solos on Highway Star (Deep Purple) and A Light In The Black (Rainbow) still sound mindblowing. - Metal_Treasure
JOE SATRIANI ROCKS! I WANNA SEE THEY GUITAR BATTLE! JOE FOR LIFE! Joe Is My Life! Because of him, I started playing guitar now! Yay for Joe! Wot!
Eddie is the man... He's just been bored for a while, he is letting everyone else catch up to what he started in 1978...
This would be as epic as it gets people. Slash is great but if two people like this got together, it would shake the world.
Joe Hands down, would win this one!
Oh John Petrucci by a landslide. Yngwie is good and has great technique, but Petrucci can improvise like a beast and has much better song writing and composing skills. He's also faster (not a huge point) and he also has the better technique. This is all my opinion, but Petrucci is a monster compared to Yngwie.
Is this a joke? Trust me, I love John Petrucci and dream theater but YNGWIE! That guy is 100x more talented than john. He can shred like no one else and can basically create neo-Classical scales out of nothing! - GreenDayFan21
Yngwie can't write a song worth a damn and he's the most pompous ass on the planet. John is still innovating and writing instant classics to this very day - DenyYourMaker
Ritchie Blackmore, obviously - Jimmy Page himself admitted that. - Metal_Treasure
Jimmy Paige rocks! Much better range of styles.
Yngwie for the win. The proof is that even when Marty plays whith a neo-Classical genius like Jason Becker, he STILL compare to Yngwie. - GreenDayFan21
I Pick Marty.Malmsteen Plays The Same Arpegios Every Album.I don't Know If Its Me,One Of Overrated Guitarist Ever Like Hendrix.Marty Solos Speaks Of Itself.Megadeth Are Crap Without Marty.
Two of the finest lead guitar players in thrash (Alex of Testament and Jeff of Annihilator). It's hard to choose but Jeff Waters wins - more interesting riffs and solos, and he pretty much invented technical thrash with Annihilator's demo of 1985 - Welcome To Your Death. - Metal_Treasure
Alex Skolnick. Why Is Jeff Waters Even Mentioned Here?
Because Jeff Waters is an incredible guitarist but you probably never listened to his entire discography. - Metal_Treasure
I think jeff waters, many people don't know him and his skills are from other planet

Synyster Gates has the feel and the shredding both in the albums and live. Herman Li Just knows how to use pro tools and give most of his money on specs in order for his pc not to crash...
Who is herman li! Synyster gates is all the way first...
Synyster gates kills herman Li by and taste that's it really
I Pick Gary Holt,Duh.That Whammy Bar Solos.Ughhh
Both Are Horrible And Senoir
I Give It To Yngwie For This
Yngwie - GreenDayFan21
Dimebag - Userguy44
Didn't MAB taught some guitar to Tom? - zxm
Joe Satriani is more technical than Yngwie. While Yngwie is faster than Joe.
Joe's shredding becomes boring after some time. Yngwie's shredding doesn't get bore. But anything Joe does, is new stuff. Yngwie played the same thing in a lot of songs. Thus a lot of songs sound same. That's his biggest con. - zxm
Mike will surely kill this bloody ass Japanese. Mike is the soul man, and I love him. His song Dream On almost numbed me.
Herman Li. far better than Kirk Hammett. - zxm
2 of Joe Satriani's top students cutting off each others head in one of the most anticipated duels in guitar history. Steve Vai's musicality and cleanliness in tone would own Hammett but Kirk's shredding speed is not easy to match. Take your pick. - aeromaxx777
Jari Maenpaa - nickolie
Shawn Lane - nickolie
Eddie is better. - Userguy44
This would be good.
