Greatest Keyboard Player Of All-Time

The Contenders: Page 3

41 Billy Joel Billy Joel

Top 2...Billy and Rick Wakeman. Different styles so I'd call it a tie but if I had to pick, it's Billy. Once you see him in concert and experience the range, clarity and accuracy you'll never be the same and you'll never miss any of his shows. He embodies and is The Piano Man.

But he's not a keyboardist, he's the piano man

How is Billy Joel not top 5?

Come on this is crazy

To many hits to list jon cain #2 give me a break
Strangest key board list of all time

Scenes From An Italian Restaurant and Angry Young Man as well as hits like Moving Out, Allentown and My Life. Any.more reasons why he's great?

42 Tori Amos Tori Amos

Perhaps it's because she's such a stunning composer, vocalist and performer, her keyboard skills are overlooked, just as Prince was sometimes underrated as a guitarist.

A true composer - this woman paints with her piano. Her music has touched and even healed the souls of so many who were lost, broken, bruised.

She is living with her piano in her own mysterious world. It is pleasure to see her in collaboration with instrument. Singing voice and melody are living as one

'Not only is her songwriting incredible, but her technique is just mind blowing. I swear she plays like she has twenty fingers.'

Well he basically revolutionized the whole music world singlehandedly doing what all people thought was impossible, finding the softness in electronic music and bringing it to the masses, the artists of today has got a plenty to be thankful for!

Should be top 10, not only for his talent but for his vision!

In a different class to everyone. Pure legend

44 Gregg Rolie Gregg Rolie Gregg Alan Rolie is an American singer, keyboardist and organist. Rolie served as lead singer of the bands Santana, Journey and Abraxas Pool – all of which he co-founded.

IMO, the greatest keyboard player of them all.

45 Magne Furuholmen

His keyboard riffs are ever catchy. He's the creator of the most famous pop keyboard riff of the '80... Take on me as well as beautiful piano melodies from the '90 til today.

In my opinion he must be definitely in the top ten.

Are you joking me? 56 sorry but I would say number 1 he is a genius and not just on the keyboard this is a complete insult to me and all a-ha fans!

the best!

46 Dave Greenfield

Unique sound, quirky, melodic, he's what makes The Stranglers unique. His keyboard runs always make me think-how does he do that, nobody's fingers can move that fast.

Just listen to no more heroes and you'll see why he's definitely one of the best keyboardists around. Plus he's a punk keyboardist.

Unique... His sound created by him.. Others followed a trend he went it alone and that's what makes the stranglers what they are today...

Class act, no one can match dave

48 Steve Winwood Steve Winwood Stephen Lawrence "Steve" Winwood is an English musician whose genres include rock, blue-eyed soul, rhythm and blues, blues rock, pop rock, and jazz.

In my opinion he should be in the top ten for sure. I think he is one of the most underrated musicians of all time, and this list certainly doesn't help his cause. He can play everything but his keyboard/organ skills are amazing!

There aren't 32 better than this guy. Up, please.

49 Andrew Fletcher

The only one who can play keyboards without hands and eat bananas at the same time. Who one else can do that? Andy Fletcher forever!

The backbone of Depeche Mode. Simply the best.

Does he play keyboards or simply clap hands or play with unplugged synthetisers on stage?

51 Stevie Wonder Stevie Wonder Stevland Hardaway Morris, known by his stage name Stevie Wonder, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist.

He's supposed to be higher than this.

Not only keyboard genius. The synthesizer inventor.

He should certainly be on Higher Ground than this...

Stevie's ability to create soundscapes that move you to feel the emotions he is trying to convey via music storytelling is above none. He is a gifted creator who has influenced musicians across genres- Prince, RHCP, MJ, the Weekend, George Michael, to name a few. And, he is an amazing live performer. He is definitely in the top 10.

53 Mike Shinoda Mike Shinoda Michael Kenji "Mike" Shinoda is an American musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, graphic designer, manager and film composer.

Mike deserves a plane between 1-10 because he's one of the best mixer as well as a great keyboardist... Have of the Linkin Park's mixing job is done by him and Joe Hahn!... Mike rules!

He is the best keyboardist and works well with samplers and synthesizer. He is a allrounder. A guitarist, keyboardist, Turn tabler... And a long a list! He deserves to be in top 10!

54 Vince Clarke

I would love to simply speak of his genius in three words, but recognize that there's so much more. Those three words, "Upstairs At Eric's." (Drops mic.)

Damn how do I take my vote back and vote for Vince?

One true icon. Innovative for decades.

Techno pop genius!

57 Frederic Chopin Frederic Chopin Frédéric François Chopin (1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849), born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era who wrote primarily for the solo piano. He gained and has maintained renown worldwide as a leading musician of his era, whose "poetic genius more.

If he's on the list, then he should be in the top 3...

A true vituoso whose compositions are still being copied globally 150+ years later

58 Freddie Mercury Freddie Mercury Freddie Mercury was born in Stone Town, Tanzania he later became a British singer, songwriter and record producer, known as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Queen. He also became known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range. Before he became a singer he has been more.

Freddie should be higher on this list! Take me to The Seven Seas of Rhye!

59 Richard Tandy

Very underrated player, probably because ELO's music was not keyboard solo heavy. But if you listen to how much ground he covers in the overall mesh of sound they were famous for, you realize what a gifted player he is. Also arranged many of the vocal and orchestral parts, was originally the bands bassist, and is an accomplished jazz guitarist!

Totally underrated, but then again, ELO is always underrated. From playing hard and heavy in Roll Over Beethoven to the electronic wizardry that was shown off in Time, the man could do it all.
