Greatest Living Guitarists

The Contenders: Page 4

61 Tony McManus
62 Don Felder

58? Wow!
An insanely low placement for his work on Hotel California, Heavy Metal and many more. Certainly doesn't belong below Billie Joe

63 Greg Howe

Greg-is fascinating to watch and hear! He may not be mainstream and that's why he is awesome. He toured with some giants, and kept true to his unique ability to play fast, beautiful, reckless--all while in complete controll of his instrument and why he doesn't even get mentioned this far down-is mind-bending...

64 Keith Urban

Come on! Listen to all the types of guitars this guy plays and stay for piano!

Best in country music hand down and ranked way too low overall

65 Michael Schenker Michael Schenker

64 guitarists already and no one mentioned MS. A travesty, folks. Listen to his UFO stuff, then when he was with McCauley-Schenker. Listen/watch any video of "Rock Bottom", then tell me he doesn't belong in the top 5.

66 Robben Ford

I agree with a previous post (#64-really? ) This guy is so underrated. Should be in the top twenty at the very least. Recently went to see Robben at the Tupelo Music Hall in New Hampshire. Amazing guitarist along with nice vocals! If you get a chance, see him. You won't be disappointed! He tours all over the world but not nearly enough. Would love to seem him duel with Clapton on stage. His music is crisp and soulful. You'll instantly become a fan like I did! The guy deserves more airplay!

Probably the most proficient all round guitarist on the planet. Oh right he doesn't shred just plays very tastefully at a level most guitarists can only dream of.

Number 64? Are you kidding me? Give him a listen, the tastiest guitarist ever! Seamlessly fuses blues and jazz.

Best living blues guitarist, period. Way better than Clapton or Page. Should be listed higher than Slash or Santana for God's sake!

67 Phil Keaggy

What can you say about Phil. Like Robben Ford he is in a class by himself

68 Sonny Landreth

As Mark Knopfler himself said. Probably the best slide player in the world. I agree

69 Larry Carlton Larry Carlton

As a member of Steely Dan he wrote and played one of the best guitar solos of all time in Kid Charlamagne

70 Hank Marvin
71 George Lynch George Lynch George Lynch is an American hard rock guitarist and songwriter. Lynch is best known for his work with heavy metal band Dokken and his band Lynch Mob.

Oh, here's one of my very favourite. Yes!

72 Brad Delson Brad Delson Bradford Phillip Delsonis an American musician, best known as the lead guitarist and one of the founding members of the Grammy Award winning rock band Linkin Park.
73 Mike Shinoda Mike Shinoda Michael Kenji "Mike" Shinoda is an American musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, graphic designer, manager and film composer.
74 Leslie West Leslie West
75 Tim Reynolds
76 Joe Walsh Joe Walsh Joseph Fidler "Joe" Walsh is an American singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer.

78 Adam Jones Adam Jones Adam Thomas Jones (born January 15, 1965) is a three-time Grammy Award-winning American musician and visual artist, best known for his position as the guitarist for Tool.
79 Yngwie J. Malmsteen Yngwie J. Malmsteen Yngwie Johan Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter and bandleader who was born on June 30th, 1963, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was known for his neoclassical metal playing style back in the 1980s.
80 John Mayer John Mayer

Just listen to him play Voodoo Child live at the Red Rocks Amphitheater or Gravity live in Los Angeles and your mind will be changed. As far as acoustics go listen to him play neon in any venue and tell me his playing isn't flawless. Easily the most overlooked guitarist of this generation.

Not saying he is one of the greatest of all time, or even one of the greatest living, but he IS the most overlooked guitarist of this generation. John can shred

Mayer is way, way, way underrated in this poll. Hard to believe that anyone can watch "Where the Light Is" and not be blown away. Acoustic or electric, masterful.

He's just plain awesome and not on everyone's radar as a contender.
