Greatest Metal Albums
The Contenders: Page 18
This one and The Dark are incredible Metal Church. David Wayne is one of best vocalists I've heard, and I think The Dark is superior because of its production. These are the only two albums of theirs I own, because although there were quality albums after it, David Wayne's departure was a void that couldn't be filled.
One of the greatest Tech Thrash albums ever made, and it is self-deception to ignore it.
Hey, it's rough and raw. It's not as good as Significant Other but the cover of George Michael's Faith is a riot.
Hmm! Nah, it's simplistic nu-metal and Chaos AD nukes it.
Lol. I should buy this one. Just read some reviews claiming it is their best album. Curious.
The cd component of Salival is often overlooked as a legitimate Tool album, but that's just the way Tool like to operate - right under peoples noses. From the fantastic reworking of Push It, to the Sabbath-esque cover of Peach's 'You Lied', to the cover of Led Zeppelin's 'No Quarter' this 79-minute cd stands alongside all of Tool's great albums.
Ok, 'sci-fi art house experimental rock band' The Red Paintings debut album is an absolute symphonic, moody, atmospheric masterpiece. It goes toe to toe with any heavy progressive album, and deserves all the accolades imaginable. Start with the epic title-track, see what you think, and make up your own minds.
This progressive metal supergroup features Tim Owens, Justin Suecoff, Richard Christie and Steve DiGiorgio. Their self-titled debut, plus 'Cold Winds On Timeless Days won't disappoint fans of classy melodic metal.
Rather than put each of their albums individually, here's the definitive box set. It features all 3 of APC's official albums recorded live (which is album perfect apart from some slight improvisation), a live dvd show at Red Rocks plus the cd to the live show. It is as epic a collection a fan could hope for.
It smacks of Metallica, which is why I bought it in the first place. If you don't expect it to rival Metallics at their best then there's a fair bit to like.
Progressive Death Metal at it's finest. Violins, clean and dirty vox, acoustic guitars, and face melting brutality. Make way old fellas.
Ok, perhaps I'm pushing my luck here, but if you want to see Metallica live on the Damaged Justice tour here it is. Also, if you want to see them on the Black album tour, here it is. Also, if you want a triple-live cd here it is. This is the finest documentary of Metallica's evolution imaginable.
Featuring the very talented ex-vocalist from Divine Heresy, their debut album has more hooks than a fishing trawler, and is reminiscent of the very best Bullet For My Valentine have to offer. It is extremely well-produced, so crank it. I'd give it a solid 4 stars though I play it so often that it's personally a 5 star album.
