Greatest NFL Franchises of All Time
The Top Ten
Yeah we have more Superbowl Championships, Conference Championships and all of famers than anyone else, but that's not why Pittsburgh is #1.
Pittsburgh is #1 because when come to your stadium and take it over with our terrible towels and dominating defense, you know you want to be a Steelers fan!
To quote White Goodman, "we're better than you, and we know it! "
Too many Divisional Championships to count, 8 AFC Championships, 6 Superbowl Championships, Mean Joe Greene, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Andy Russell, Donnie Shell, LC Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, Dwight White, Mike Webster, Lynn Swann, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, John Stallworth, Rocky Bliar, Rod Woodson, Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward, Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, Joey Porter, James Harrison, Alan Faneca, Ike Taylor, James Farrior and Health Miller! Here we go STEELERS!
Don't forget about Antonio Brown, that guy got real skills on the field.
Best team of the Super Bowl era! 6 Superbowl titles in 8 Superbowl games. Legends both past and present like Mean Joe, Terry Bradshaw and Troy Polamalu. Best fans in football! Doesn't matter where they play, there will be thousands of terrible towels in the crowd! HERE WE GO STEELERS!
Love the Steelers, but 4-3 is just not good enough. The steelers are the 5 best team in the AFC, but are 11 in the NFL. The Bengals are 6-0 and are the 2 best team in the Nfl and the Steelers have to win on sunday at home. So excited that there warring the bumble bee uniforms.
With 13 NFL championship wins, the Packers have been a dominating force in every decade. In the 20's and 30's the Packers went undefeated at home for 5 years! They dominated the 60's with 5 championship wins. They had a bit of a dark spot in the 70s-80s, but we'd all like to forget those decades anyway (aside from 70's rock. ) In the past three decades they have always been at the top or near the top of the league. A force to be reckoned with. A beautiful engine built to move the ball forward. Go Pack!
Even though their divisional rivals (Chicago) have the most Hall of Fame appearances, I think Green Bay has the best franchise. Even though they have one less Superbowl win then Pittsburgh, the Packers may be the most feared team of all the NFL. Rodgers and Favre are both incredible quarterbacks and have good receivers to connect to.
13 league championships (4 super bowls). 9 conference championships won. 27 playoff appearances. 13 time division champs. 81, 000 names on the season ticket wait list (with average of 30 year wait). Sold out stadium for over 45 years straight. Owned by the fans. Simply the best franchise in the NFL.
13 Championships. 4 Super Bowls. Championship trophy is named after their a Packers coach. 4-1 in the Super Bowl. Steelers only have 6 NFL Championships. Packers have the most HoF players ever. Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Ray Nitschke, Brett Favre, Reggie White, greatest Franchise.
Considering the salary cap challenges, this team and franchise is amongst the best ever. They have the best coach of all time and arguably one of the top 1-3 QB's of all time (Elway, Montana the other two). The downside is that they have an owner Kraft) that threw his QB, team and fans under the bus. He deserves zero respect now for turning his back on all of those who were loyal to him. He should be ashamed of himself and I hope the fans of New England never let him live that betrayal down.
The most Super Bowl wins. The most Super Bowl appearances. The most conference championship game appearances. The GOAT player. The GOAT coach. Plus they're from God's Country... New England!
They are tied for the most super bowls in the NFL with the Steelers and they have been to more super bowls than any NFL franchise. Add in the fact that they won all 6 of their super bowls with the same coach and quarterback, and the fact that their run has lasted longer than any dynasty in history and you have the best franchise in the NFL.
So what they sucked in the 20th century? They have been an absolute POWERHOUSE ever since XXXVI and have only missed two playoff appearances ever since Tom Brady became starting QB, who is the greatest of all time(don't give me that joe montana or peyton manning being better crap). He is my hero! You hate cause you ain't us!
Best team ever. Third is an insult. Won super bowl in three consecutive decades. Biggest win in super bowl history, 55-10 demolition of the broncos. Best pound for pound player of all time in Jerry Rice, Montana and young at QB. West coast offense the most attractive and devastating ever. What more evidence do you need!
The 49ers have the best quarterback of all time (Joe Montana). They have the best wide reciever of all time (Jerry Rice). The best defensive back of all time (Ronnie Lott). The best coach of all time (Bill Walsh). Finally 5 Super Bowls.
The 49ers are the greatest they had some of the greatest players off all time joe Montana jerry rice steve young patrick willis every time they set foot in the superbowl there bound to win
While the Steelers have the most SBs the 49ers have been good every decade except for the 70s. The Steelers were only good in two decades and the Packers weren't as good.
Cowboys are second only behind the bears in franchise win %. (But have more Super Bowl than the bears) (oh and the steelers are ranked #14... Just to clear that up. ) they are The most winning team percentage wise in the NFL for the past 50 years. AND the Cowboys are (unlike the Steelers) playing in the toughest and most winning division in football. The NFC East has the record, appeared in 20 of the NFL Super Bowls, have, 12 Superbowl victories, and the Cowboys dominate the NFC East with 20 division championships, 28 playoff births, and 8 appearances. (All records) While the Steelers were able to practically walked into the Super Bowl at all those years, the Cowboys had to continuously play nfc champions 6 times year in and year out. (Eagles have never won a Super Bowl, but to say they're not competitors is stupid) Between the years 1990-1996 the NFC east won 5 out of the 6 Super Bowls! Cowboys won half of those, One of them against the Steelers. Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, America's ...more
Used to be great in the 70s, early 80s and 90s, but as long as Jerry Jones continues his horrible awful ownership, they will dip further in the listing as the years go on to the point that not even their beloved history will save them!
The NFL needs to outright remove Jerry Jones NOW as Cowboys owner!
troy aikman, emmit smith, tony dorsett, roger stauback, 8 nfc time nfc champs 5 time superbowl champs
Should be around #5.
As long as Jerry Jones is still the owner and GM, the Cowboys (my team) will never ever win another Super Bowl again!
We have been to over 6 super bowls in modern and old times. also we have had many hall of famers and legends. we also had one of the greatest defenses ever.
Great team, city, players, history, fans, stadium and has multiple superbowl wins and appearances! has fielded both a top 5 offense and defense if not a top 3!
One of the best owners in the League great players and great fans. And could win another Super Bowl in 2014 with Peyton manning
Since they won yet another SuperBowl with one of the best defenses ever, they deserve sixth or seventh.
The Giants should at least be in the top four teams out there. Number 7? Hell no. They have won three superbowls. They had the greatest linebacker of all time in their franchise, coached by Bill Parcells. They have Coach Coughlin. They got the biggest runningback ever in the NFL (Not that it truely matters unless BJ is good which he is). They are at least one of the top four or five best. And the Redskins? Over the Giants? HELL NO.
One of the greatest teams of all time. No doubts at all. Who's the only team to beat the pats TWICE in the Super Bowl when no one else could even beat them ONCE? The giants. What team has received what are considered to be the top 2 catches of all time? The giants.
They would not have won super bowl 42 and 46 if not for those lucky catches
GO BIG BLUE ELI TO TYREE NUFF SAID
FUTURE HALL OF FAME PLAY
Although not the most dominant in the super bowl era, there are certainly good in it, especially with the 85' Bears defense. Won 8 nfl championships before the super bowl era as well, and have set numerous records with iconic players (like Sid Luckman, Walter Payton, and Devin Hester just to name a few). Also holds the biggest blowout in nfl history, 73-0 over the Washington Redskins.
This is a joke! The Bears easily should be in the top 5. They were the first official NFL franchise, and they have the second most championships behind the packers. It's absolutely insane they are not even in the top 10!
You don't think they should be in the top 10 they had the highest blow out in NFL history aganist the Redskins for the NFL Championship 72 to 0 and beat the Patriots 42 to 0.
The Bears are one of the greatest franchises in the NFL. They are also the 2nd oldest team in the NFL.
No other franchise has had success from the early 1960s all the way to the early 2000s. The Raiders have some of the most famous players and coaches in nfl history. Al Davis, John Madden, Dave Casper, Gene Upshaw, Art Shell, Marcus Allen, Ken Stabler, Jim Plunkett, Fred Biletnikoff, Ray Guy, Howie Long, Jack Tatum, Ted Hendricks, Sebastian Janikowski, and Shane Lechler are ALL Hall of Famers who have played or worked for the raiders! JUST WIN BABY!
This is all time. What were you born in the 2000's. all time means for the entirety of a team exitance. Oakland only team to ever in a super bowl in 3 different decades, went to playoffs 19 times in 20 years. And got seriously jobbed by by referees in emaculate reception game, phantom fumble game & tuck rule game or they would probably have 2 or 3 more Super Bowl titles. Do your research before making a narrow minded comment.
Howie Long, Marcus Allen, Ted Hendricks, Tim Brown, and John Madden 3 super bowl rings
Iconic most storied amazing franchise number 1 in my books maybe behind greenbay. Dallas and oakland my number 1s
Only undefeated team. Won back to back super bowls. The Vikings (who are ranked 10 as of May 17 2015), I belive have never won one a super bowl, let alone been to one. Fins have many HOFers and Marino has set standards high for passing records before passing was a big deal. You ask me, Fins are a top ten franchise.
Only one team was close to tie the best record in football that was the pats in 07 but lost, Anyway the 72 Dolphins were one of or the best team in football.
Dan Marino, Mark Clayton, Mercury Morris, and Don Shula 2 super bowl rings 17-0 season
The Dolphins should be higher they have had one of the best quarterbacks ever,Dan Marino
the largest stadium, the history, band, fight song, hall of famers, quarterbacks, revenue, 3 rings, 2 championships, all the division championships, nfc championships, and hall of fame coaches, the hogs, come on! how much more do I have to mention for them to be in the TOP 5 and get the cowGIRLS outta there?
They are an AMAZINg story always winning when no one had any hope it's like a fairy tale they're just so inspiring and the most influential team ever with amazing fans
The redskins are by far one of the best franchises with the richest history it all began with Sammy Baugh and cliff battle then it was picked back up by jurgensen then once again by theisman and now rg3 between all of them 3 superbowls and many years of history
THE SKINS ALSO WON OTHER NFL CHAMPIONSHIPS BEFORE THERE WAS A SUPERBOWL.
Easily the best franchise to never win the Super Bowl (though they have won a championship in 1969). 1998 team was the third best offense of all time, the purple people eaters were one of the greatest defenses ever. If it weren't for pure bad luck the Vikings would have multiple rings, (Gary Anderson's missed field goal in 1998, getting cheated out of the big game in 2009 by the bounty gate saints, etc.
Purple People Eaters were one of the best defensive units of all time. Went through a rough patch, but are on the up and up again. New ownership may have finally gotten it together.
The Vikings should not be in 10th place they suck, no Superbowls or any division titles. The colts and redskins are way better franchises and should be in front of the Vikings.
Should have a Superbowl. Such explosive talent and great coaching for so many years. Just in dark days now. Bridgewater is the redemption baby!
Johnnie Unitas, Peyton Manning, and Marvin Harrison 2 super bowl rings
Should be higher than the ravens
J U is best QB ever
The suck, bunch of losing seasons in their history, and not just that, the fans players are big mouths!
The eagles might not have the rings to show for it but they have had amazing years, and more to come.
The eagles have had amazing years and work well with any players. I believe they're one of te best franchises despite no superbowls.
I'm a eagles fan but this team is not that good
In the 20 years since it was made, the Panthers have the only QB to get 50 rush TDs, went 15-1, won 3 straight division titles, and have 3 future Hall of famers including Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, and Luke Kuechly.
Young franchise and they are already doing better than franchises that have been here for decades
They are doing very well for being a newer team
Best franchise of all time
We have only been called the Baltimore ravens since 1996, and we have already won 2 superbowl rings, already have a player who played on the ravens for his intire carrer into the hall of fame (plus 3 more who played on the ravens, as of 2013) Ray lewis and ed reed are future hall of famers. We also have one of the best defences of all time! I think you may have heard of the 2000 ravens, we only alowed 165 points in a 16 game season! (which is a rocord for fewest points allowed in a 16 game season. And we also had to deal with stricter rule changes then the 70's steelers, the 76 raiders, and the 85 bears, and we still got it done! So The Baltimore ravens shouldn't be number 20, it should be #1!
When you realize how good the defense of the 2000-2003 time was it blows ones mind, they were loaded with players that have a reservation for canton, plus they alreday have 2 rings in 20 seasons, that 1 a decade which is to put simply, good.
This is franchise that in only 20 seasons has accomplished more than most NFL franchises. 2 Super Bowls, countless playoff appreances and wins, multiple division titles, and best defense of all time.
This one of the most senseless rankings I've seen. It's just fans voting for their favorite team.. Like I did
Lets go atlanta!
Go Julio Get that Supa Bowl
The Rams are the greatest show on turf they should be higher on this list
What haven't they won super bowls?!?
Same reason with seahawks
Bill o bren is a hack
You people are crazy! How can you put them in top 20!
Hate this team
My favorite AFC Team.
Best fans in the entire world. No question. The suffering they endure is unthinkable yet they prevail and still sell-out all the time.
Not so good unless you still had Doug flutie
Four time afc camp
Should be last. Worst team statistically speaking. Even the browns have a better all-time record
Lamar Hunt was instrumental in creating the AFL. He also came up with the name of "Super Bowl".
Kansas City went to Super Bowl I and won Super Bowl IV.
The Chiefs dynasty is coming sooner than you think...
Same reason with saints and seahawks
Bengals=1 we say WHO they for a reason
This is the greatest franchise of all time. The Giants suck!
With Jim Brown any things possible
They are under rated
This team is trash
