How a clown like Chester Bennington is ahead of the legendary Who frontman proves most of these chippies don't know music.

The most powerful, sexy, heartfelt, belt-it-out... Did I say POWERFUL! Pure energy in that amazing voice. Thank you Roger!

Rain On Me! Magic Bus! Tommy! Behind Blues Eyes! The list goes on and on and on. This guy is Top Ten easy!

Most powerful voice. A singing rock lion.

22 Ian Gillian

one of the best voices of all times. not as appreciated as he should though...

People talking about 4 octave ranges, this guy had a 7 that's right SEVEN octave range, the original Rock God Voice and still the best

Ian is 68th!?! What's wrong with you people, this is IAN GILLIAN of THE DEEP PURPLE,
Have you ever heard that screams in child in time!?!?

Amazing vocal range and technique

23 Jim Morrison Jim Morrison James Douglas "Jim" Morrison was an American singer, songwriter, and poet best remembered as the lead singer of the Doors.

The Doors and Jim Morrison -perfect combination!
With his incredible voice, you can just sit down and enjoy. (:

Why is he so far down on this list? Jim morrison had so much emotion in his voice, and he also was able to make it gritty. he has to be at least top 20.

Jim had a hypnotic quality to his voice. No matter the age of the music, it still takes you to "that place"... you know what I'm talking about. Should have been in the Top 10 for sure.

How is Jim Morrison all the way down on the list?! He really gets into the music and has such an amazing voice

AC/DC ROCKS and the voice of Brian Johnson and the guitar of Angus Young together too.

HE HAS MOVED AC DC ON WITH LP BACK IN BLACK AND DC ARE STILL GOING 40 YEARS AND STILL GOING

Top 10 all time, for sure.

25 John Lennon John Lennon John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. He was assassinated by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980 at age 40 .

Listen to"Rock and Roll Music"..
.."Twist & Shout"..Dizzy Miss Lizzy"
"You Can't Do That".."Yer Blues"...
"Tell Me Why"..."Instant Karma"..etc.
..and you'll hear the best rock singer ever!

People voting are too young to know but let the numbers speak. John Lennon has produced such a mass level of great music the rest on the list would dream for. Really, Lennon at 56?

There are no words that can explain how much I love his voice! Adore THE BEATLES :)
I liked him in The Beatles and solo of course

I am sure Yoko is throwing a fit because his name isn't in front of Paul's

26 Liam Gallagher Liam Gallagher William John Paul "Liam" Gallagher is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame as the lead singer of the rock band Oasis, and later as the singer of Beady Eye.

Just my opinion, if he's not the greatest rock singer of all time he's the greatest rock voice. And I'm talking 93-97 here

I love his voice. Too bad Oasis don't sing anymore. What a waste, and all because of some childish quarrels between two brothers.

A okay singer too bad his body couldn't support the weight of his inflated ego

The last rock star.

27 Arnel Pineda Arnel Pineda Arnel Campaner Pineda is a Filipino singer and songwriter. He came to prominence in the Philippines during the 1980s and internationally in 2007 as the lead singer of the American rock band Journey.

Arnel Pineda sings with passion. He doesn't only hit the high note as in the original but really sings from his heart full of soul. He is a total performer as seen in his concerts inciting his audience..

He has one of the most beautiful and versatile voices I have ever heard plus he knows how to work a crowd. This is extremely necessary for a successful frontman.

Arnel Pineda is one heck of a versatile vocalist and deserved this title, his powerful and soaring voice gives me goosebumps
and inspiration - audrey55

In my opinion, Arnel is the real "VOICE". His versatile and powerful voice is truly the best. Others tried toreplicate the great Steve Perry but not one came close until AP came along and rejuvenated the true sound of Journey.

28 Paul McCartney Paul McCartney Sir James Paul McCartney is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer . With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame with the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop and rock music .

Of course Paul McCartney and Freddie Mercury are the GREATEST 2 vocalists in the rock era... Not even worth discussing. John Lennon, Robert Plant and Ann Wilson are RIGHT up there as well. Axl Rose is a vocal nightmare... SOME great songs but REALLY? Axl Rose... Just listen to both versions of Live and Let Die... Axl was a fleeting, TONELESS novelty... Come on folks! - frank

sung many of the most famous songs in the world, Hey Jude, Let It Be and he could rock with Helter Skelter, I'm Down, Oh! Darling

Sir Paul the prudish hack. Was a much better songwriter than he was a singer I always found his vocals to be a little annoying could have been sung better by someone who wasn't so full of themselves that was actually trying

Lennon was better.

29 Brad Delp Brad Delp Bradley Edward "Brad" Delp was an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock bands Boston and RTZ.

Seriously, Brad Delp is #56 on this list? He should be top 5 at the very least. He could hit notes consistently that left other singers shaking their heads. Did you ever notice that most cover bands ignore Boston songs? It's not because they don't want to, it's because the singers can't sing them properly, so they don't even try.

I guess people are really Deaf. If anyone ever really listened to music they would understand that ELVIS was the Best of all time, and Brad should be in the top 10. You can go on you tube and find in studio music with just vocal tracks before they are put to sound and music. Brad Delp has 1 of the Best Voices in Rock History. He had many different levels he could hit. RIP Brad Delp. The Nicest Guy in Rock N Roll.

Brad should be #1. He is one of the best vocalists ever! Just listen to the Boston's hits like "Don't Look Back" or "More Than a Feeling", and you'll understand. RIP Brad, we miss You.

The most incredible voice in rock & roll in my opinion. I saw an interview with Sebastian Bach where he was even "wowed" by the notes Brad could hit. He & Freddie Mercury are the top 2 in rock & roll in my opinion. How many singers have both of those bands been through since their departures? Many because their voices can't do it for long. RIP guys.

Michael Jackson was a singer, songwriter, producer, choreographer, entertainer and humanitarian. He donated (at least) a remarkable 300,000,000 dollars to charity. Michael is also known as The King ...read more.

Michael was on top! I voted every time for him! Where are all the other fans? He's the BEST! He should be on top!

Michael Jackson wasn't a rock singer. He may have been able to sing anything, but he didn't do rock. He wasn't in a rock band either. So he shouldn't even be on this list because its totally irrelevant to Jackson's actual talent.

DAMN, Michael should be on the top of this list... EASILY! Like him or not, you can't say something negative about his voice. He can scream like hell, and yet has this gentle soft tone...

He was the King of POP people! Not a Rock and Roll Singer!

31 Amy Lee Amy Lee Amy Lynn Hartzler, known professionally as Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist and composer. She is also the lead singer to the Arkansas band Evanescence.

My favorite female singer!
She has a beautiful voice! I like to hear female voices in Rock! Amy Lee is beautiful and talented, she does a great job on Evanescence!
I love her voice! - TheGodOfNewWorld

She is just amazing! She has so much feeling and power in her voice! Too bad she's turning into a pop-princess... but anyway I hope she will never give up her way of singing no matter which genre she chooses! Go AMY!

She just so amazing, her voice is flawless. You can tell it comes straight from the heart when she sings. absolutely a amazing singer, I would vote for her any day. Pure, raw, emotion in her voice is what makes her one of the greatest.

Amy Lee's voice is beautiful. One of the best voices I've ever heard. She sounds like an angel and sings with a lot of heart and soul. And why is Brian Johnson higher on the list than her? - Rorywilbren

32 Maynard James Keenan Maynard James Keenan Maynard James Keenan, often referred to by his initials MJK, is an American musician, record producer, winemaker, and actor, best known as the vocalist for Grammy Award-winning progressive metal band Tool.

His voice is soothing, dynamic, and extremely powerful. He has so many different styles and techniques. His lyrics are some of the deepest you'll come across. His voice can stand out or follow the music in a wavelike journey. You will worship this man. Surreal

Maynard should be in top 5,his voice is amazing,he can go deap,he can go soft,he can screamo,Maynard my freinds is also one of the gods o rock!!!!

33 Bono Bono Paul David Hewson, known by his stage name Bono, is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, venture capitalist, businessman, and philanthropist. His original nickname was Bono Vox which means "big voice".

A lot of viewers will probably wonder why I put bono on this list. I have grown up listening to U2. Because I have listened to them for so long Bono is one of my favorite singers. -

Should be top 5. Very distinctive voice that a generation or two have grown up with. Could hit incredibly high notes when he was younger. Still one of my all time favorites and this is coming from a rock/metal fan.

What a strong and power in his voice (please watch DVD from Milan 2005 - Elevation is good example)! He absolutely deserve to be in first 5. One of the best voices in the music, ever.

Great singer and U2 is Rock just not heavy rock. I love his voice is raw, pure yet, smooth and soulful.

34 Anthony Kiedis Anthony Kiedis Anthony Kiedis is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers, which he has fronted since its inception in 1983.

Anthony Kiedis voice is amazing. Sadly RHCP isn't a very famous band nowadays because they had a long time without doing nothing. If anyone listens to the songs "Don't Forget Me" or "Under The Bridge" they'll understand my point. Red Hot Chili Peppers are perfection, and Kiedis is amazing, he should be at least in the top 10. I mean, how can Adam Lambert and other mainstream artists be in better positions then Kiedis?

Sorry if my grammar/spelling is bad but English isn't my mother tongue.

I agree, whoever watches Slane Castle will definitely chose Kiedis

Not only a great singer with what Tony Bennett described as "having a great range" but he can also rap with the best of them. He is versatile.

just watch the slane castle concert..

35 Elvis Elvis Elvis Presley was a American musician and actor. Known as "The King" He was mostly known for his number 1 singles including "Heartbreak Hotel" "Hound Dog" "Jailhouse Rock" "Love me Tender" Elvis debuted in the movie "Love me Tender" and focused less on his music and continued that way. ...read more.

Elvis had range, volume and octave. Most singers in rock don't sing well. Turn off the music, and hear the voice. You will hear the truth.

ELVIS IS THE GREATEST SINGER IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK N ROLL AND THE VERY BEST DANCER THERE WOULD NOT BE ROCK N ROLL WITH OUT ELVIS AND I WILL SAY THAT STEVEN TYLER IS SECOND BEST

The King of rock'n'roll.
He started rock with his sexual voice, clothes and movments.

Elvis Presley--not even close. Had it all, including the showmanship and looks.

36 Janis Joplin Janis Joplin Janis Joplin (1943-1970) was an American singer who rose to fame as the main singer of acid band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She was known for her eccentric hippie style and psychedelic rock music.

Janis was AMAZING! What a shame that she did not make the list. My assumption is that most of the people who voted did so based on popularity, not necessarily talent. I can also assume many of those that voted are not as knowledgeable as they could have been, and were very lax in doing their homework! But, my husband says, no, they are just plain stupid!

Janis Joplin has the best voice I've ever heard! How is she so far down on the list?

A great voice at times but often too messed up to sing

WOW... Something is wrong here folks! Not even top 25? - frank

37 Paul Stanley Paul Stanley Stanley Bert Eisen, known professionally by his stage name Paul Stanley, is an American musician, singer, songwriter and painter best known for being the rhythm guitarist and co-lead singer of the rock band Kiss.

Front man for one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time! Massive Power and range. Song writer and musician. Can work a crowd like nobodies business! Top 5 in my opinion!

38 Layne Staley Layne Staley Layne Thomas Staley was an American musician who served as the lead singer and co-songwriter of the rock band Alice in Chains, which he founded with guitarist Jerry Cantrell in Seattle, Washington in 1987. Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s. ...read more.

The only other singer close to Layne Staley would be Chris Cornell. Staley's vocals and the way he can take dark lyrics and make them sound absolutely beautiful is a talent very few singers today can match. Staley's voice will resonate and influence many to come after him, you can't fake raw talent.

Layne have the best voice register in the history of the rock, you can check it if you want, high pitch to low pitch, the creativity, the power in his voice, the ability to transfer feelings, just awesome.

AIC undeniably the BEST grunge band with the best songs and the best voice. Not the most popular, but the best, the lyrical quality of Staley as well as his great voice make them incredible.

Well I guess people really are deaf... Layne Staley had one of the most unique voices ever. His time with Alice in Chains and Mad season, while short lived, spawned some of the best music the 90s offered in my opinion. I still listen to AiC and Ms everyday, mainly because of his insane vocal range. He should definitely be in top 10 smh
