Greatest Southern Rock Bands Ever

The Top Ten

1 Lynyrd Skynyrd Lynyrd Skynyrd Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band best known for popularizing the Southern rock genre during the 1970s They are known for songs like "Free Bird", "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Tuesdays Gone" .

These guys and the Allman Brothers are the best, but these guys win by a little bit. The new Skynyrd line-up isn't too bad either, with Danny Van Zant being the new singer. The only original member left is Gary Rossington, and Artemis Pyle but he got kicked out. It sucks tragedy hit such a good band.

They are simply irresistible. Surprise why they are not at the top. To me they are the best rock band from the South. Their legacy will live forever. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd.

California and southern rock are different therefore CCR should not be included on this list because then you would have to include the doobie brothers and Neil young so they are not southern rockers this list if you take out the California rockers is pretty accurate 1,2,3 are right where they should be however 38 special and Blackfoot could be moved up a few spots and the rossington collins band should be on there somewhere

Greatest of all time

Really look at all the stuff ZZ Top has put out over the years. I bet if you're a true rock n roll fan you will know, like, and be able to sing along w/ minimum 30 songs! I recently started downloading a few ( 5-6 ) of their earlier songs & ended up w/ 63! And actually knew all / most of the lyrics for

4 Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to Creedence and abbreviated as CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

If CCR were a southern rock band, which they are not (from California) they would be at or near top of this list.

What is ZZ Top doing above CCR?

The top 4 here (Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR) are all great, but I'd change the order to 1. CCR 2. ZZ Top 3. Lynyrd Skynyrd 4. Allman Brothers.

They have the best perspective on the whole southern rock thing. 'Southern Rock Opera' is the album that knocks it out of the park, but they've got a lot of depth all the way through their southern thing...

Best southern band. Transcends southern rock and becomes one of the best bands in the world and are still top of their game twenty years after starting.
