Greatest Works by Shakespeare

The Top Ten
1 Hamlet

Shakespeare, as we know, is why considered to be no. 1. Hamlet is the creation which made him #1 as well as it is one of top 5 plays ever written by anyone. Divyanshu says vote it

It deals with the effect of a Mother's guilt upon her son. It's a fantastic TRAGIC tragedy that gives us that much moral that we can suck out of it. DO IT VOTIFIED!

Hamlet has the most lines of any of Shakespeare's character. It is usually the most quoted play of his all his works.

Superb and mind blowing work, better than his other plays as well as the best considered play ever. Vote it.

2 Macbeth

Double, double toil and trouble. Fire burn and caldroun bubble. So much better than this Harry Potter nonsense.

Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. How awesome is that!

Amazing tragedy story of greed and jealousy!

Great story of betrayal and paranoia!

3 Romeo And Juliet

I just watched the movie of it, last night and I wasn't that sad... But now I just think about it and say... What happends next? Why did this happen? Oh man, I feel bad for those fantasy characters crying looking at each others dead body, it is a very sad movie.

Awesome superb mind blowing... not these all comments for it. It is simply best love story written by non other than shakespeare. Divyanshu says vote it for the sake of love.

I actually like the Dire Straits song more than the story ROmeo and Juliet by the geezer Shakespeare but still Romeo and Juliet's my all time favourite

The original is stupid because its illegal for a adult to have a relationship witha 13 yr old but Gnomeo and Juliet is awesome

4 King Lear

King lear is awesome please read it one of the greatest story ever absolutely famous and incredible please vote for it

5 Julius Caesar

I hate how the assassinated Julius Caesar (yes, I am aware it was based on the true story of Caesar. I just hated that). He was a cool guy.

Mark Antony's speech was awesome

6 A Midsummer Night's Dream

This should be #1!
I think it be cool if they made a spongebob, rugrats, or garfield version of it.

Lol some of the characters deseeve to be bullied for having ugly names hippolyta sounds like a hippo and puck sounds like a hockey puck

My class is doing Shakespeare and I am titania

7 Henry V
8 Othello

A great work of emotion. With delicious villainy and terrible pain, this play is one of the best tragedies ever written

9 The Merchant of Venice

It is best written by shakespeare characters are amazing shylock antonio basonio really nice please read it I am sure you will like it

10 Richard III
The Contenders
11 The Sonnets

How cool to be openly gay when it was a capital crime.

I like the rhythm of it

12 The Tempest

The Tempest is Shakespeare's final treatise on what it is to be human and to be mortal. Prospero's epilogue, in which he renounces all of his 'charms' or powers and is 'set free' is similarly Shakespeare's renouncing of the hold he had over his audiences with the realisation that he has reached the pinnacle that his writing will ever be able to attain. Love, mortality, and the struggle for power - the strongest forces that drive humanity - underpin this play which is undoubtedly one of the greatest pieces of literature ever written.

Prospero the character is good in this play and also shakespeare shows his ability in this play how deep he can think and use his brain and intelligence for writing please vote for it it should be in top 5

Diggin this play since it was short, less shakespeare to read in class

13 Henry IV, Part 2
14 Richard II
15 Twelfth Night

What is this doing way down here?

16 Much Ado About Nothing

Beatrice & Benedick. 'enough said.

Whoever reads it agrees

17 Cymbeline
18 As You Like It
19 All's Well That Ends Well

Saw this at the Globe Theater and thought it was fantasticly well performed and a delight to watch. Despite the weather being horribly hot and the air feeling sticky, I still managed to enjoy the wonderful work of Shakespear.

Should be fifth behind Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello and Macbeth.

20 Titus Andronicus
21 Love's Labour's Lost
22 The Rape of Lucrece
23 Antony and Cleopatra
24 Venus and Adonis
25 Timon of Athens

If you're not angry enough, try Timon. what a turn on for anger!
