Top Ten Guitar Tapping Solos

Everyone loves it when a guitarist loses his pick and starts tapping! These are the solos we love the most, when it comes to the awesome technique popularized by Eddie Van Halen.
The Top Ten
1 Eruption - Eddie Van Halen

I agree with ameentheguitarist23, that this tapping inspired others. But Eddie didn't start or invent tapping. But some people think he invented tapping. Vittorio Camardese started tapping 12 years earlier.

By the way, I'd add Highway star, too. You could play the solo with tapping too. but I think Ritchie Blackmore probably didn't tap.

Looks like I was right. Highway Star wasn't originally played with tapping solos.

The most memorable taping solo of all time but not the greatest.

2 Crazy Train - Randy Rhoads

Randy Rhoads was one of the few who used tapping at that time along with Eddie Van Halen (in metal).

A classic no one can forget.

3 Midnight - Joe Satriani

Interesting way to look at the technique. Simple, yet effective.

4 Building the Church - Steve Vai

I'm not even gonna comment on this guy. I can't understand the amazing stuff that he does.

5 Jordan - Buckethead

Master of atonal tapping. Who wouldn't say he just used computer sounds on the recording?

6 One - Kirk Hammett

Not a big fan of Metallica. But this was one of the fewest things that kept me to listen this song.

Kids, if you want to learn your first tapping solo yet speak a lot through it this is the ONE!

7 Guitars Suck - Bumblefoot

Tapping on frets that aren't even there? Now that's innovation.

8 Scarified - Paul Gilbert

The breakdown lick is amazing. Plus it's a dual tapping lick, because the guitar and bass are playing the same thing in octaves!

9 A Line In The Sand - Brad Delson
10 Drifting - Andy McKee

Tapping on acoustic is not something we see everyday.

The Contenders
11 Vittorio Camardese's Two Handed Tapping Guitar - 1965 (Vittorio Camardese)
12 Children of the Damned - Iron Maiden
13 Seasons In the Abyss - Jeff Hanneman
14 Thunderstruck - AC/DC
15 Floods - Dimebag Darrell

It has only four notes of tapping. Plus the tapping doesn't even sound like tapping.

Because even 4 tapped notes can speak a lot!

16 Satch Boogie - Joe Satriani

Yeah, its played with tapping solos.

17 Lady In my Life - Stanley Jordan

The tapping nerd.

18 Bury Tomorrow - Watcher
