Top 10 Hansi Kürsch Vocal Performances

The Contenders: Page 2

21 The Throne - Blind Guardian

Flawless vox throughout the entire song but 5:30-6:00 is my favorite part - really fast and unstoppable singing. Does Hansi take breath? Sure he does but his breath control and breath support are excellent. Overall, great vox from a metal singer at 50. - Metal_Treasure

22 Another Stranger Me - Blind Guardian

Play the song sample to hear both his head and chest voices and the perfect switches between them: head-chest-head-chest-head voice. It's like a duet with himself. - Metal_Treasure

23 Crimson King - Demons & Wizards

This song is also full with frequent and perfect switches between "head-chest" voice. Excellent singing. - Metal_Treasure

24 The Eldar - Blind Guardian

Hands down the best pure vocal epic from Blind Guardian, HANDS. DOWN. Who needs instruments when your voice is a orchestra? "High's the fee." best line from Hansi in music.

25 Don't Talk To Strangers - Blind Guardian
26 Lord of the Rings - Blind Guardian

Vocals of this ballad are Oh my god!
Find the live version from Tokyo on YouTube and don't bother about the studio versions. When I listen to this live version I forget it's live and only the applauses at the end remind me it was live. I'm pretty sure this is best live vocal performance I've ever heard. This is how a singer should sound live:
"Blind Guardian - The Lord Of The Rings [Live Tokyo Tales]" - Metal_Treasure

27 Grand Parade - Blind Guardian

The section from 6:20-7:40 says it all - as of 2015, Hansi still sounds amazing at 50! The song is a 10 min long epic from their new 2015 album. - Metal_Treasure

28 Into the Storm - Blind Guardian

Hansi sings it like there's no tomorrow. Very intense and powerful vocals.
A visitor wrote in another list that "This song is what intense wants to be when it grows up." (list - Best Blind Guardian Songs).
I would add that in this song the vocal is what intense vocal wants to be when it grows up. - Metal_Treasure

29 Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill) - Blind Guardian

Hansi never cease to amaze me: 1:35-2:45 actually combines singing and voice acting, which makes him a fantastic storyteller:
"I'll dare you, come out you coward! Now it's me or you! "
"Slowly in fear the dark lord appears. Welcome to my lands, you shall be damned! "

I'm sure Hansi could have been a brilliant voice actor, too. I'm judging by many other aspects of his singing such as the wide variety of voice intonations in general. - Metal_Treasure

30 Sacred Mind - Blind Guardian

Creepy, ghostly and psychotic vocals. The way he shouts "On Fire! " and the first 2 minutes in general are so crazy that this song became one of my favorites from the 2015 album. - Metal_Treasure

31 Beyond the Realms of Death - Blind Guardian

Hansi did a great job on this Judas Priest cover. He made the choruses even more intense and his 2nd chorus blew my mind (2:15) - so much emotional power in the line "Keep the world with all its sin". - Metal_Treasure

32 Miracle Machine - Blind Guardian

Here he shows an unbelievably clean and youthful voice at 49, after all these years of singing metal! - Metal_Treasure

33 Time What is Time - Blind Guardian
34 Love's Tragedy Asunder - Demons & Wizards
35 Down Where I Am - Demons & Wizards
36 The Bard's Song (In the Forest) - Blind Guardian
37 Carry the Blessed Home - Blind Guardian

Probably the most beautiful vocal harmonies from Hansi. - Metal_Treasure

38 Turn the Page - Blind Guardian
39 Valhalla - Blind Guardian
40 Banish from Sanctuary - Blind Guardian

All time favorite - can't get enough of the raw and aggressive vox. The live version from 2004 is even better, 15 years after the original (live DVD - Imaginations through the Looking Glass). - Metal_Treasure
