Top Ten Hard Rock and Metal Bands Whose Best Known Song Isn't that Heavy

The Top Ten
1 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

The first 3 Queen albums was almost metal, but A Night at the Opera going' to be more melodic.

Three songs heavier than this, ogre battle, sheer heart attack and stone cold crazy

2 July Morning - Uriah Heep
3 Deep Purple - Smoke On the Water

Their best known riff and a heavy song, but songs from the In Rock and some other songs from the Machine Head are much heavier.

4 Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
5 Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper

Don't get me wrong, I like the rest of the softest songs of these bands too on the list, it's just a guide kind list.

If you think BOC weren't that heavy, listen to Cities on Flame, Tattoo Vampire or This Ain't The Summer Of Love

Needs more cowbell

This is the BÖC song that considered to be the best, however the vocals are very popish and the instruments aren't that heavy too.

6 Guns 'N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

Rest of songs from even their first album was heavier.

7 Black Sabbath - Paranoid

It's a lot more likely for one of my friends to know Iron Man.

Probably the softest electric guitar Black Sabbath song of their '70s era.

8 Here I Go Again - Whitesnake

This song is their best and most known song but there are other songs more heavier than this

Still of the night is heavier.

9 Tom Sawyer - Rush
10 Love Hurts - Nazareth
The Contenders
11 Extreme - More Than Words

A soft acoustic rock song made popular a glam metal band...

Its not only that kind of heavy but it isn't heavy at all

12 The Scorpions - Rock You Like a Hurricane

I though wind of change is their best song

13 Victim of Changes - Judas Priest

@zxm yeah, I saw your remix and as in metallica: I know metalheads/rockers knows this aren't their brst song, but an average popular music listener would say this if I would ask him about a Judas Priest song... (same with Enter Sandman if Metallica)

A heavy blues based progressive rock song, but not metal. Tyrant is metal from the SWOD, but this song isn't.

Uh, this song is definitely not their most known song, and yeah, it's heavy

"You've Got Another Thing Comin'" is probably their best known song.

14 Metallica - Enter Sandman

@yaygiants16 I know, people who know more about rock/metal music knows the songs you wrote better, but in the popular culture this one became into a popular song...

Heavy enough for the mainstream, but far less so in comparison with their earlier heavier work.

This isn't their best known song, their best known song is either 'One' or 'Master Of Puppets', not 'Enter Sandman'.

OK this song is heavy, but nowehre from their earlier thrash songs.

15 Van Halen - Jump

This is a great song, but it's technically a disco song by a Hard Rock/almost metal band.

16 To Be with You - Mr. Big

Should be #1. A very technical glam band making an acoustic ballad.

17 Bewitched - Candlemass
