Top 10 Hardest Sonic Levels
The Top Ten
This level deserve is title of hardest level in the sonic franchise for me, it combine EVERYTHING you gone through during the game,.
Ha! Rank A! But too hard. Try to jump down onto the platform instead of swinging on the pipes across the lava. - CN121
Only number 10... I've beaten all of the sonic games in a week but eggmanland took me a year. This should be number 1
Eggmanland is so hard that is took me 56 attempts and 5 hours to complet note to sega try not to make people platform fast it’s stressfulV 15 Comments
Ah, yes. A level I can at least respect due to actual difficulty. No broken controls, no lag, just pure level design. Although I had a tougher time in the Cannon's Core and am yet to experience Eggmanland, I'll give props to this one for, well, everything. Plenty of enemies, platforms that don't know what or where they want to be, crushing platforms, electric balls, and everything that just tells you that Final Zone only deserves the best. And the underwater part is nearly impossible unless you know about one small secret.
It's true! Everything wants to kill you in this game! Even the first level is hard! First, you get your hopes up and then you DIE! I also finished the game without the Chaos Emeralds, and what did I get? A kick in my ass. - PANCAKEGuy
Where is metropolis zone and labyrinth zone is much Easter than labyrinth it only took me one try on labyrinth zone to get through it right now I'm still stuck on scrap brain zone act 2
The act 3 was basically Labyrinth with a different color scheme. - HellohiV 8 Comments
I've played this level so much that I really don't have a problem beating it now. But it took me about 15 game overs to beat the first time. For a person who try's this level the first time, it's impossible. I know it was for me.
I got SA2B when I was very small, I swore I could beat it before I became ten. I think I did it... But only a month before. That is all due to this 'mega level'. Still though, it was a good way to wrap up a good story and the ending was just awesome... Also did I mention the music? No? Oh, I'll sum it up quickly then... IT'S OVER 9000!
It took me 2 years to beat this level
It took me a couple hours to beat it, it's not that hard but it's frustratingV 4 Comments
This level is pretty difficult. I don't hate it as much as some other people do (wing fortress zone is my most hated and difficult level) but this one is still pretty bad, especially with that cruel twist of having 3 acts instead of 2. The enemies are the worst and there are evil traps EVERYWHERE like those corkscrew things, gears, lava, arrows sticking out of blocks, etc.
REALLY cheap enemy placements and I would always get lost and have to start over again. At least the music is decent
Worst level ever, This level has cheap enemy placements and annoying traps this is the only level That I struggled
Act 3 was by far THE hardest Metropolis act! - TopTenXV 5 Comments
The reason it's so hard is due to 06's unfinished controls, physics, bad stage layout, glitches, and the small amount of lives given to you during the long trek to the end. It wanted to be like Canon's Core but in CC you felt accomplished because the game before it is at least fun! Here it just feels like getting to the end of a grocery line where everyone keeps cutting ahead of you for 8 hours!
Why is this not number one it only took me a couple days to beat Cannons core but I never got to beat this stage also bad controls, hard to beat enemies, and lots and lots of glitches.
This level was hard because of those potential things
Escape it's NO USE
This level is hard? You people kidding me! The water sections aren't that long, and most of them have tons of spots to refill your air bubbles! Sure, the boss is hard, but that's one part of the whole zone. Sure, you can drown, but there is a way to counter it. Take your time, don't rush last each air bubble refill spot until you get to a part with no air bubbles. If you stop at each and every air bubble dispenser, the zone actually becomes easier. The only part I found truly hard were the Badniks. The fish are fine, but the Screw Nose ones and the Spike Ball ones are a pain. The Screw Nose ones sometimes really well hidden, and the Spike Ball Badniks can only be killed via either invincibility frames, waiting for its slow attack to finish, or timing your jumps. Plus they're usually right in front of air bubbles.
I was stuck on this level longer than any other in any game as far as I can remember.
How can this level not be at least in the top five? Its so hard and frustrating!
To be honest, I haven't played enough sonic to vote but this is impossible.V 5 Comments
Casino Night Zone from the Mega Drive version of Sonic 2 is much better than Casino Park. Still, I like this hard stage.
This level is like TORTURE! It takes you forever to reach the goal ring.
I really don't know what is so wrong with this level I don't think its that hard
Very hard, luckily if you get a game over you can restart with 3 lives in sonic 3 and knuckles but not sonic and knuckles.
THE BOSSES ARE INSANE
I HATE ACT 2! IT IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE! - CN121
I had to look up how to beat this level's second act because it was so big and confusing.
The only thing that is hard in act 3 is jumping through the door
Only Metallic Madness 1 And 2 Is Hard But The Final Boss Is Easy
Act 3 I still couldn't get pass to this day
Thought The Doom was hard? This level is 10 TIMES WORSE! The level is way more confusing and ridiculously big, and you have to kill ALL of the enemies to beat the Hero mission. I HATE THIS LEVEL.
I was only 6 years old when I played this. I remember being specifically frustrated by this level, so naturally when a 6 year old gets frustrated by something, she whines to her mother, "moom I can't beat this level! ". My mom couldn't beat it either! She did eventually and we continued, but I will never forget this level. I thought it was called Launch Pad for a while for some reason, but finding this jotted my memory. Wow. The underwater parts were impossible.
Whoever made the 3 bosses in a row (2 without tails and most likely 1 ring if you were playing without S&K), you are a monster. - mattstat716
Well, it is from Sonic 1, but I'll give it to you. After all, beating this level was a big breakthrough for me, even though there were more difficult levels ahead.
Second level syndrome- Marble zone and Chemical Plant zone in sonic 2
Marble or Marble GARDEN?
Classic Sonic’s horrible controls just makes this level so difficult it took me 20 tries and a daily bonus to get an S rank. The side scrolling section is just the worst pair that up with Classic Sonic’s spindash making you drop like a pile of bricks when you use it and you got a very difficult level.
I hate this level. Extremely tight grind switching that doesn't work with Sonic's air control, so many bottomless pits to kill Sonic, and to top it all off, when you have to homing attack onto a grail for extra speed, it's so easy to miss and fall into a bottomless pit!
This level is bull. With its randomly placed rails and speeders with a camera that cannot keep up with sonic this level is bound to kill you with you even doing anything wrong.
I had trouble getting to the final boss of the dark story
Final Rush - My 2nd favourite level in the Sonic series, following Rooftop Run Daytime in Sonic Unleashed!
Final Chase - Uh, the level with the gravitational cylinders? Easy! I have an “A” rank on the level. It really is not that bad!
I died a lot on this level because of the lava rings when trying to jump
The stupid lava rings... - Silverbronwyn
Like shrouded forest but more challenging missions
When sonic 3 first came out, had no idea how to bring the block down at the end of the stage (internet wasn't around at that time to offer hints).
I can't even do it! - CN121
Oh this level...
There IS an Scrambled Egg Zone in Sonic 2. It's the 8-bit version it's talking about.
Umm...there is no Scrambled Egg Zone in Sonic 2.
This level took me 3 years to beat just because of that dreaded puzzle at the end
It took me one day to beat City Escape to Crazy Gadget so yeah it's a bit easy
I understand how this is on this list. But why? I consider it a boss zone. Like Final Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. There's no real level to this zone. Just two infuriating bosses with no rings.
It is way way more difficult. Also Wing Fortress Zone: This level is IMPOSSIBLE! I have to restart it million times, and I haven't finished it
This is the middle finger to the people who relied on Tails. And oh yeah. There's no rings or power ups
First mission in this level is not that hard but there are other ones I haven't done yet
It is known for how long and boring it is
Like I said 1 day City Escape - Eggman Boss Fight (after Crazy Gadget)
Man, what a crazy A mission. I remember barely making 4:30 in time (had to use a giant shortcut to get to the end). The snake in the water room tested my patience, and the wall-walking room was the highlight of the whole place.
For Team Sonic and Team Dark, the camera view is so bad that it is hard to see where you are going. When you start playing the stage, you launch through the ring and there is a rail somewhere. When you miss the rail, you're toast and it seriously takes you a ton of tries to reach the rail. There are also lasers on the rail you have to avoid as you go deeper into the stage.
This level is only due to the dreadful camera angle and slippery controls
I beat it as team sonic but took 13 minutes
This level is really great but hard
It's so glitchy you go through the rails at times and fall to your death. If it wasn't for the glitches, would probably be on the easiest list
I got 3 Game Overs playing the first time with team sonic!
Lol how is this level hard?
The boss sucks. It’s really repetitive.
Looks pretty easy right until the enemies arrive
Mad Space is Harder
This level is so annoying, falling off walls and landing in lava, and a hard boss to go with it!
With silver it is hard getting to the core even with it in sights
This level should be number 1.
The cryptic notes, the gravity, the scale of the level.
This level can die.
Super hard but managed to beat it
I find this level tricky but not that tricky since I did beat on my first try
This level is too maze like and WAY too big and boring elevators that you have to wait for. the hero mission is when you have to chuck healing capsules on dead reasearchers but the camera has a seizure and you will probably miss a lot. The dark mission sucks more since you have to kill SIXTY gun troops! In the giant maze like area! Oh and one of the gun mechs is glitches and you have to use a checkpoint warp to actually FIND THAT GUN MECH. even the normal mission is Tedious.
This level is a never ending maze. You are never sure where to go. I was stuck on that fit a few days
A year ago I played this stage and it took me 23 MINUTES to complete it (I did dark mission)
Beating act 1 of this kart racing level is fine, but when you go to act 4 and you have to clear without hitting any walls, be prepared
Hard but Mad Space is much harder
Currents brining you to the start of the level and cannot be seen? Pipes leading to instadrowning? The exit blocked off by a seemingly impassable wall? Act 3 has no bubbles and all the time fighting the boss is spent underwater meaning you have to beat it in 30 seconds? Madness!
This is the most confusing zone in the Sonic series.
Classic is easy. Modern is a damn pain in the ass! Tried a million times could. Not. Get. It!
I had S ranked all other levels, but this... never...
Just play the act 3. - Hellohi
As a kid who used to play this on my PSP, the boss fight was super hard. - MillieTrina_Prower
