I lived in Fairbanks for 4 years before I moved to Georgia to be closer to my family. Why? Well first off is the weather. Now anyone knows that Alaska is the coldest state in the union. However, in Fairbanks, the average high temperature in January is 1.1°F! And that's not even including the crime! While Fairbanks isn't that bad, when I went to visit Anchorage, let's just say that going in a McDonald's just to get a Big Mac and a soda felt more like meet the president! The cashiers had these bulletproof windows and there was like a thousand security cameras in the store! And did I mention that one night in Anchorage, there was a gang shooting near the hotel I resided? It's just horrible! But as for the redeeming qualities, the rural and forest areas aren't just beautiful, they're heaven! And we got the "last great race on Earth" (only Alaskan residents will get this one). Overall, it's not that it's a bad state, it's the weather and crime that makes Alaska a hellhole.

It's frigid and isolated.
